Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jewel Diaz (ranked 3467 p4p, 358 weight class) and Alexander Stroganov (ranked 3814 p4p, 381 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jewel Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Stroganov!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz leaves Stroganov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Stroganov pushes Diaz up against the cage in a clinch.
Diaz is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stroganov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Diaz tries to score a body lock takedown but Stroganov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stroganov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stroganov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Diaz has him pressed against the cage.
Stroganov is trying to force a seperation but Diaz has the dominant position.
Stroganov jumps guard but Diaz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Diaz works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Stroganov wants to stand up but Diaz is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stroganov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stroganov wants to stand but Diaz is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Diaz pushes Stroganov up against the cage in a clinch.
Stroganov prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jewel Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stroganov wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Stroganov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stroganov parries the strikes from Diaz easily there. Diaz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Stroganov to escape.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stroganov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stroganov is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.

Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stroganov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A right-left combo lands from Stroganov.

Diaz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stroganov did well to prevent Diaz getting side control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
