Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Miguel Cotto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Ernst! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ernst bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cotto is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ernst scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Cotto tries to get to full guard but Ernst has control of the leg. Ernst is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ernst prevents Cotto from improving his position. Ernst seems to be working for a kimura but Cotto defends the submission attempt. Cotto is trying to stand back up but Ernst is controlling him

Cotto wants to get back to full guard. Ernst is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cotto gets in close and instigates a clinch. Cotto is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ernst is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cotto to the mat. Cotto regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Ernst looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ernst throws a big right hand that misses. Cotto looking to control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ernst connects with a couple of short punches. Cotto tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ernst wants to control from the top but Cotto keeps moving. Cotto is looking for a triangle but Ernst pushes his legs off easily.
Cotto is trying to control the position but Ernst postures up. Cotto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cotto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ernst throwing strikes from guard but Cotto blocks nicely. Cotto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ernst can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ernst postures up in Cotto's guard and throws a big left but Cotto blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Cotto throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cotto will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Ernst trying to control but Cotto is working from the bottom. Ernst landing some decent shots from guard. Ernst postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cotto is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cotto is trying to keep Ernst in close.
Cotto lands a decent punch to the body there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotto looking for a triangle here. Ernst is fighting it but it looks tight! Cotto pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ernst is tapping out - this one is all over!
