Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blake Rojas (ranked 6980 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ladislav Ptacnikov (ranked 4501 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladislav Ptacnikov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Blake Rojas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ladislav Ptacnikov! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rojas is defended easily by Ptacnikov. Ptacnikov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rojas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ptacnikov goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Rojas tries to counter by clinching up but Ptacnikov breaks away and moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ptacnikov gets a clinch. Rojas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rojas wants to clinch and Ptacnikov counters with a crisp one two that drops Rojas! Ptacnikov thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rojas to his feet! Rojas is in big trouble!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ptacnikov rushes Rojas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ptacnikov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rojas to keep the fight standing. Ptacnikov manages to break the clinch.
Ptacnikov with a lazy takedown attempt letting Rojas counter with a right hand. Ptacnikov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Rojas counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rojas. Ptacnikov jumps guard but Rojas stands there with Ptacnikov around his waist. Ptacnikov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Blake Rojas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ladislav Ptacnikov. Rojas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ptacnikov just stands there and leans against the cage. Ptacnikov stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ptacnikov misses with a punch to the body.
Ptacnikov is working for takedown but Rojas is calmly controlling the position for now. Ptacnikov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ptacnikov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rojas circles away quickly and effectively. Ptacnikov clinches up with Rojas and pushes him back against the cage. Rojas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ptacnikov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rojas smiles and moves away.
Ptacnikov moves into the clinch successfully.
Ptacnikov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rojas regains guard immediately. Rojas scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ptacnikov scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Ptacnikov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rojas was well out of range. Poor timing from Ptacnikov. Ptacnikov darts in and clinches Rojas up against the cage. Ptacnikov manages to break the clinch.
Ptacnikov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rojas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Rojas can't keep his opponent in guard - Ptacnikov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ptacnikov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Ptacnikov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Rojas looking for submissions off his back. Rojas is looking to escape. Ptacnikov is looking for a kimura here.
Rojas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rojas taking some punishment here, with Ptacnikov in his half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ptacnikov stands up and beckons Rojas to join him on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ladislav Ptacnikov dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Rojas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ptacnikov dives in for a single leg takedown but Rojas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Ptacnikov throws a sloppy head kick and Rojas counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ptacnikov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rojas's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rojas is trying to control the position but Ptacnikov postures up. Ptacnikov wants to control from the top but Rojas keeps moving. Rojas is wriggling around but Ptacnikov manages to pass to half guard.
Rojas looking for submissions off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ptacnikov working over Rojas with some ground and pound. Rojas looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas looking for submissions off his back. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ptacnikov lands a nice short elbow. Ptacnikov drops an elbow to the side of Rojas's head. Ptacnikov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Rojas is trying to get back to full guard. Ptacnikov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ground and pound from Ptacnikov. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ptacnikov controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rojas is trying to get back to full guard. Ptacnikov is thwarting Rojas's attempts to control the position. Rojas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ptacnikov connects with a nice short shot to Rojas's temple. Ptacnikov stops Rojas from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ptacnikov seems to be working for a kimura but Rojas defends the submission attempt. Ptacnikov is nestled in close to Rojas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Rojas is looking to escape. Nice strikes from Ptacnikov there. Ptacnikov works his foot free and advances to mount. Ptacnikov breaks from Rojas's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Rojas is rocked! Rojas takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Ptacnikov's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
