Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gilmat Kirk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Olaf Sudgon! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sudgon fails with a takedown attempt. Sudgon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kirk sprawls well. Kirk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sudgon gets slowly back to his feet. Sudgon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kirk is fending him off so far but Sudgon persists. Nope, Kirk circles away and we're back to standing. Kirk seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Gilmat Kirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Olaf Sudgon. Sudgon takes a kick to the side of the head. Sudgon with a lazy takedown attempt and Kirk counters by moving into the clinch. Sudgon is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kirk to keep the fight standing. Sudgon tries to pull guard but Kirk holds him up against the cage and eventually Sudgon drops back down to his feet.
Sudgon wants a takedown but no success here.
Kirk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sudgon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kirk sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Kirk wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kirk moves into the clinch. Sudgon tries to pull guard but Kirk won't allow it.
Kirk will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sudgon up against the cage. Sudgon is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kirk is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sudgon blocks the elbow strike.
Kirk manages to break the clinch.
Sudgon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kirk did well to prevent Sudgon getting side control. Kirk tries to kick Sudgon off but Sudgon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Kirk is positioning himself well to prevent Sudgon advancing to mount. Kirk is looking for a sweep. Sudgon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kirk is trying to stand up here but Sudgon is controlling him well. Sudgon is thwarting Kirk's attempts to control the position. Kirk is trying to stand.
Sudgon trying to pass the guard but Kirk defending well. Sudgon is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Kirk moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kirk holds on and takes a little breather. Kirk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sudgon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kirk has his hands on Sudgon's head, controlling the position. Kirk is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sudgon has his hands clasped together but Kirk extends and breaks Sudgon's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kirk.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gilmat Kirk! After winning the bout, Gilmat Kirk thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
