PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Starr (ranked 3689 p4p, 417 weight class) and Hax Molloway (ranked 7169 p4p, 592 weight class). Hax Molloway struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Starr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hax Molloway!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Molloway slips a jab and a cross from Starr.
A lazy left from Starr finds it's target.
Molloway ducks under a wild hook from Starr.

Molloway closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Molloway goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Starr on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Molloway missing with knees to the body.
Molloway goes for a takedown in the clinch but Starr prevents it.
Starr working hard to break the clinch.
Starr is trying to break free.

Starr breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Molloway goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Molloway clinches.
Molloway misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Starr.

Starr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
John Starr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Starr misses with a hook.
Starr throws a series of punches but Molloway avoids them all with ease.
Starr takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Molloway fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Starr manages to avoid it.

Starr swats away the attempt to clinch by Molloway.
John Starr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Starr loads up on a big right hand but Molloway slips the punch.
Molloway on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Starr. Starr obviously looking to wear him down.
Starr misses with a looping left.
And Molloway tries to counter it with a takedown but Starr pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Molloway moves into the clinch.
Molloway lands an elbow just above Starr 's eye.


It looks like John Starr has been cut.
Starr tries to break the clinch but Molloway is controlling the position.
Starr is trying to break the clinch but Molloway is controlling him.
Molloway tries to land a knee to the head but Starr blocks with his arms.
Molloway keeps control of Starr as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Starr blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Starr is trying to break the clinch but Molloway has him pressed against the cage.
Starr looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Molloway tries a knee to the head but Starr blocks it.
Molloway misses with a knee strike.
Starr is pressed up against the cage. Molloway has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Starr down to the mat. Starr avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Molloway wants to clinch.
Molloway drops his hands momentarily and Starr takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Starr avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Molloway just misses with a punch to the body.
Starr throws the kick towards the body but Molloway avoids it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Starr throws a leg kick which misses Molloway's front leg but catches the back leg as Molloway tries to avoid it.
Starr misses with a series of wild punches.
Starr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Molloway moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Starr misses with a two punch combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Molloway takes a swing at Starr's ribcage but misses.
Molloway fails in his attempt to clinch.
Molloway drops his hands momentarily and Starr takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Starr throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Starr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A combination from Starr does no damage.
Starr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A swing and a miss from Starr.
Starr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Molloway closes the distance and pushes Starr back into the cage.

Starr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A big right from Starr misses.

Molloway has closed the distance and engaged Starr in a clinch.

Molloway gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Starr regains guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Molloway stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Starr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Starr wants to stand and escape but Molloway is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Molloway trying to control the position from guard on top but Starr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Molloway stopping the sweep attempt from Starr.
Molloway looking to pass the guard.
Molloway trying to control but Starr is working from the bottom.
Molloway works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Starr will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on John Starr's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Starr throws a sloppy head kick and Molloway moves out of range easily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Starr.

Molloway looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Starr!
Molloway wants to lay and pray for a moment but Starr keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Starr can't do much from the bottom here.
Starr wants to get back to his feet but Molloway drags him back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Molloway in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Starr is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Hax Molloway!
