Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Theodore Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Azar Weinstein!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weinstein works over Daniel's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Theodore Daniel has been cut.

and Daniel counters with a shoot takedown. Weinstein fights it but they end up in guard.

Daniel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Daniel connects with a nice short shot to Weinstein's temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Weinstein tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Daniel has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Daniel is looking for the choke from the back position but Weinstein is controlling his hands well.
Daniel is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Daniel gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Daniel gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Daniel apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Daniel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Weinstein wants to stand back up but Daniel manages to pass into side control.

Weinstein pushes Daniel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Daniel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Daniel cracks Weinstein with a big right hand but Weinstein just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Daniel stands up and beckons Weinstein to his feet.

Weinstein gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Daniel postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Theodore Daniel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Daniel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

You can see the frustration on Weinstein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Daniel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Weinstein's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Weinstein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daniel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Daniel is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Weinstein has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Daniel is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Weinstein is defending well though. Daniel let's go of the attempt for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Daniel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
