Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodrygo Da Silva (ranked 2448 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Jones Jr (ranked 2698 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones Jr has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rodrygo Da Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeremy Jones Jr! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Jones Jr as Da Silva shoots in. Jones Jr looks winded! Da Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones Jr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Da Silva somewhat. Da Silva ducks under a wild hook from Jones Jr. Jones Jr misses with an uppercut
and Da Silva counters with a nice leg kick. Jones Jr misses with a right hand and Da Silva counters with a leg kick. Da Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones Jr defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrygo Da Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Da Silva lands with a kick to the temple. Jones Jr shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Da Silva slips under a jab from Jones Jr. Jones Jr throws a hook but Da Silva avoids it easily. Da Silva is looking to counter the offense by Jones Jr and move into the clinch. Da Silva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones Jr. A telegraphed right hand from Jones Jr misses the target. Da Silva tries to clinch up but Jones Jr circles away and keeps his distance. Da Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jones Jr throws a lazy right hand but Da Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Jones Jr misses with a looping right. Da Silva seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Da Silva is looking to clinch but Jones Jr is avoiding it.

Da Silva moves away and avoids it. Da Silva shoots in for a takedown but Jones Jr shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jones Jr throws out a powerful jab. Da Silva moves into the clinch. Jones Jr has Da Silva pressed against the cage, preventing Da Silva from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Da Silva's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Jones Jr leaves Da Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Da Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones Jr circles away.
Jones Jr swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Da Silva moves out of range as Jones Jr strikes. As Jones Jr tries to get set, Da Silva tries to push him back and clinch up but Jones Jr manages to avoid the attempt. Jones Jr might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Da Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones Jr as he jumps to the side. Jeremy Jones Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones Jr stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones Jr wants it to stay on the feet. Da Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Jones Jr, looking for a takedown. Da Silva pushes Jones Jr against the cage but Jones Jr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Da Silva moves away from the strike by Jones Jr. Da Silva blocks a jab. Da Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones Jr as he avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jeremy Jones Jr will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Da Silva walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
