The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Rodriguez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rodriguez tries to bum rush Hawk with a series of wild strikes but Hawk uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Hawk throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rodriguez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hawk is in Rodriguez's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Micah Hawk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rodriguez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hawk can do to turn this around?

Hawk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rodriguez defends it easily.

Hawk throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rodriguez escapes and throws Hawk's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

After the fight, Ryan Rodriguez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
