Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frederick Weinstein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Guy Reynolds! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reynolds throws a nice outside leg kick. Weinstein has a takedown stuffed. Reynolds lands with an overhand left. Nice body kick from Reynolds. Weinstein changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reynolds looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Reynolds is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Weinstein asserts his dominance and retains side control. Weinstein looks up at the clock and then as Reynolds takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Weinstein smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Reynolds pushes Weinstein away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Weinstein gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Weinstein is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reynolds has escaped the position, nice work there. Reynolds is pushing Weinstein's head away, looking to escape. Weinstein manages to hold on to the position though. Reynolds really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Weinstein. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weinstein scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Reynolds to see if he's OK. Reynolds wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Reynolds is letting Weinstein control him for a moment. Reynolds told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Weinstein lands some shots froms side control. Reynolds wants to get back to his feet but Weinstein drags him back down. Weinstein scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Reynolds to see if he's OK. Reynolds avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Weinstein. Reynolds is trying to stand and escape here. He's got onto all fours but that's just let Weinstein take his back! Uh oh - Weinstein has got a rear naked choke here! Reynolds is forced to tap! It's all over! One monent is all it takes in this sport!
