Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mamoru Takamura (ranked 2352 p4p, 129 weight class) and Henry The Crab (ranked 2628 p4p, 142 weight class). Takamura comes into the arena with Pay Money To My Pain - Weight Of My Pride blaring out of the sound system. Mamoru Takamura is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Mamoru Takamura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Henry The Crab! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Crab bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Takamura stops The Crab from passing to mount. Takamura can't do much from the bottom here. A lull in the action here as The Crab stalls from top position. Takamura tries to buck The Crab off but The Crab is having none of it. The Crab wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Takamura, who protects the arm well. Takamura tries to improve position but can't. The Crab looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Takamura is trying to control The Crab's posture but The Crab avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Crab trying to control the action but Takamura is working from the bottom. Takamura tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but The Crab wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The Crab postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Takamura's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Takamura is letting The Crab control him for a moment. Takamura is trying to get back to half guard. Takamura gets back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takamura is trying to control but can't.
The Crab is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Takamura has managed to free his arm - good work. Takamura is not content to let The Crab control the position. The Crab wants to pass to mount but Takamura is defending the position. The Crab trying to control from half guard but Takamura is working away. Takamura is holding on to half guard well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takamura is looking to improve his position.
Takamura's coaches at Scotty's Yard have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. The Crab works his way into full mount! The Crab looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
