Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wild Turkey ! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas looks to throw the jab but Turkey is out of range. Turkey swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Turkey throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Turkey lands with a right hand.
It looks like Carlos Ruas has been cut. Ruas moves out of range of the strikes. Ruas slips under a jab from Turkey . Turkey tries a head kick but it misses.
Ruas cracks Turkey with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Ruas fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Turkey chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Ruas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Turkey was well out of range. Poor timing from Ruas. Turkey tries a head kick but it misses.
Turkey moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A swing and a miss from Turkey . Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ruas dives in and scores a takedown into Turkey 's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruas looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas trying to control but Turkey is working from the bottom. Turkey controls Ruas momentarily but Ruas frees himself. Ruas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Turkey swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ruas is working hard here to advance position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ruas is looking to pass into half guard but Turkey pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Turkey is in guard. Ruas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turkey 's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turkey keeping full guard, as Ruas tries to pass. Turkey keeping moving, preventing Ruas from controlling successfully. Ruas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turkey is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ruas frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ruas wants to finish this one by submission but Turkey is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ruas. Ruas looking to control but Turkey is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ruas punching from mount but Turkey doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ruas tries to control but Turkey wriggling away. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ruas is looking to work his way around to Turkey 's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Ruas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turkey 's guard. Ruas wants to pass the guard but Turkey is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Turkey throws a jab when Ruas was well out of range. Ruas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Wild Turkey seems to be getting the better of the standup. Turkey throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ruas tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Turkey defends well and Ruas ends up having to push Turkey into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's one minute gone in the round. Turkey throws a sloppy head kick and Ruas moves out of range easily. Ruas looks to throw the jab but Turkey is out of range. Turkey is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Ruas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turkey tries to avoid it but Ruas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turkey to the ground. Turkey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ruas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Turkey defends it nicely. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ruas. Ruas swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Turkey cracks a nice hook into Ruas's ribs. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Turkey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Turkey throws a leg kick but Ruas checks it. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Turkey . Ruas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Turkey as he avoids it easily. Ruas shoots for a double leg takedown but Turkey sprawls well. He's pushed Ruas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Turkey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ruas manages to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas looks for a takedown but Turkey sprawls well. Turkey slaps away a takedown attempt from Ruas, before circling back to the center of the mat. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Turkey .

Ruas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Turkey . Turkey throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ruas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. A big right from Ruas misses. Wild Turkey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Turkey throws a head kick but Ruas moves out of range.
Turkey shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Ruas walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Carlos Ruas's cut is getting worse. Turkey drops Ruas with a beautiful combination! Ruas stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Turkey is looking for the KO! Turkey missing with a left hand there. Ruas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Turkey leaves Ruas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas misses with a hook. Turkey scores with a hook to the body. Ruas takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Turkey swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ruas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Some wild striking there from Turkey .

Ruas catches Turkey with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Turkey throws a head kick but Ruas moves out of range.
Ruas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Turkey is trying to defend but Ruas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Turkey is refusing to be controlled, as Ruas sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Turkey manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ruas pushing down on Turkey 's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Ruas keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Ruas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Turkey sees it coming and defends easily. Turkey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ruas is looking to advance position but Turkey won't allow it. That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Turkey to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Turkey shrugs it off. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ruas is stalling here but it's allowed Turkey to get half guard.

Turkey can't keep his opponent in guard - Ruas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Ruas keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Ruas seems to be working for a kimura but Turkey defends the submission attempt. Ruas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Turkey has managed to free his arm - good work. Ruas wants to pass the guard but Turkey is defending well.

Turkey gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Ruas is pushing down on Turkey 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Turkey is fighting to maintain full guard but Ruas has managed to sneak the leg through. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruas feinted with a counter takedown. Turkey gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A looping hook to the body misses from Turkey . Ruas does a little dance to reset his feet. Ruas tries to counter with a takedown but Turkey is quick to defend against it. Turkey misses with the combination.
Turkey throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Ruas half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Turkey throws a chopping leg kick but Ruas manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Ruas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Turkey is looking for a sweep. Ruas has hold of Turkey 's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Turkey seems comfortable defending it but Ruas has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Turkey is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Turkey is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ruas couldn't care less - he's delighted!
