Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chase Fuchs (ranked 2972 p4p, 331 weight class) and James Hackett (ranked 2888 p4p, 321 weight class). James Hackett has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Chase Fuchs's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chase Fuchs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Hackett!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuchs tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Hackett counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Fuchs drives through with a takedown into Hackett's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hackett is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Fuchs not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hackett working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fuchs.

Fuchs has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Fuchs is fighting to break Hackett's control of his arms but Hackett is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hackett lands a really nice looking cross but Fuchs seems unphased.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Fuchs looking to score a takedown here. Hackett is defending well but Fuchs drives through and ends up in Hackett's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hackett holds on and takes a little breather.
Fuchs postures up in Hackett's guard and throws a big left but Hackett blocks it.

Fuchs wants to pass the guard but Hackett is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fuchs trying to control the position from guard on top but Hackett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hackett holds on and takes a little breather.
Fuchs stands up over Hackett, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Our spies down at at Team Alpha Midget inform us that Hackett has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Fuchs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hackett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fuchs swings for the body but Hackett moves out of range.
Fuchs tries to clinch up
and Hackett cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A slow jab from Hackett misses its intended target.
Fuchs tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Hackett counter with a right hand.

Fuchs feints and as Hackett raises his hands in defense, Fuchs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fuchs wants to pass the guard but Hackett is keeping the position.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

The crowd cheers as Hackett lands an impressive looking overhand right. Fuchs doesn't seem phased though.

Fuchs shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hackett as he avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hackett might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fuchs haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Fuchs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hackett bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Fuchs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hackett's guard.

Hackett wants to control the position but Fuchs says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Hackett is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fuchs's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fuchs's back!
I really don't envy Fuchs right now.

Fuchs is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hackett.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fuchs got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hackett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fuchs has managed to get both his arms back between Hackett's legs - danger averted.

I would just about give that final round to James Hackett.
