Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cesare Tiramanti (ranked 1026 p4p, 143 weight class) and Jay Villanueva (ranked 1566 p4p, 209 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cesare Tiramanti! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Villanueva! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tiramanti misses with an uppercut. Villanueva clinches up against the cage. Villanueva missing with knees to the body.

Villanueva putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Tiramanti in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Villanueva tries to land knees in the clinch but Tiramanti avoids the damage to the body. Tiramanti managing to block the knees to the body from Villanueva.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Villanueva throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Tiramanti blocks it with crossed arms. Villanueva tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The referee calls for Tiramanti to work.
Villanueva misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tiramanti.
Tiramanti has Villanueva pushed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tiramanti managing to block the knees to the body from Villanueva.

Tiramanti breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Villanueva throws a right hand that misses
enabling Tiramanti to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Jay Villanueva has been cut. Villanueva thuds a left hand into Tiramanti's body. Villanueva darts in trying to clinch and Tiramanti counters with a nice uppercut. Tiramanti cracks Villanueva with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tiramanti has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Villanueva to stand back up! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Villanueva is looking to clinch but Tiramanti is avoiding it.
Villanueva tries to clinch but Tiramanti moves away and Tiramanti scores with a counter punch that sends Villanueva to the canvas! Tiramanti smells blood - he's punishing Villanueva with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Villanueva has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cesare Tiramanti! Cesare Tiramanti retains his light heavyweight title!
