The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Elliott swivels and escapes.
No luck with that takedown attempt from James.
James shoots in looking for a takedown but Elliott manages to keep the fight standing, pushing James's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Elliott throws a combination but it was largely blocked by James.
Elliott misses with a wild combination.
Elliott lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
James shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Elliott as he jumps to the side.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elliott throws the left hand but James avoids the punch easily.
James tries to counter with a takedown but Elliott is quick to defend against it.

As Elliott tries to get set, James tries to push him back and clinch up but Elliott manages to avoid the attempt.
James closes the distance and clinches up with Elliott, looking for a takedown. James pushes Elliott against the cage but Elliott circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James tries to bum rush Elliott with a series of wild strikes but Elliott uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice sprawl there from Elliott as James shoots in.
James takes a shot to the body in his stride.

and James counters with a two punch combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A lazy left from Elliott finds it's target.
Elliott misses with a few strikes there.
Elliott scores with a jab to the head.
No joy there for James, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

James gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Elliott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Elliott throws a leg kick which misses James's front leg but catches the back leg as James tries to avoid it.
Elliott tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
James attempts a counter takedown but Elliott avoids it well and moves away.
James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Elliott misses with a wild combination.
James moves out of range as Elliott strikes.
James takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Elliott misses with a series of wild punches.
A big left from Elliott misses.
Elliott throws a jab when James was well out of range.
James throws a counter high kick but Elliott was just alert enough to avoid it.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Elliott! But no joy.
James shoots in for a takedown but Elliott shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Elliott's waist but Elliott gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
Elliott lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Elliott rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Elliott didn't expect that.
Elliott is pulling down on James's head. It's preventing any offense from James, at least for the moment.

Elliott looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but James is defending well. Elliott quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! James has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Elliott celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
