Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Telushikin (ranked 2330 p4p, 280 weight class) and Brian Grimes (ranked 1274 p4p, 175 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Telushikin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Grimes! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Telushikin misses with a series of wild punches.
Telushikin shoots in for a takedown but Grimes shows good takedown defense. Grimes looks to throw the jab but Telushikin is out of range. No luck with that takedown attempt from Telushikin. We've been hearing reports that Telushikin has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Telushikin fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Despite the aggression on Grimes's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joseph Telushikin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Telushikin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Grimes tries to avoid it but Telushikin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Grimes to the ground. Grimes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Telushikin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Grimes.
Telushikin avoids a lazy jab quite easily. No joy there for Telushikin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Telushikin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Grimes has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Telushikin is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Grimes goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Grimes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Grimes misses with a short punch on the inside. Grimes tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Grimes blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Telushikin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Grimes misses with some punches.
Grimes manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Telushikin is trying to trip Grimes. He has hold of a leg but Grimes is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Telushikin persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Telushikin prevents Grimes from getting back to his feet. Telushikin showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Telushikin wants to control from the top but Grimes keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grimes wants to stand up but Telushikin is controlling him. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Telushikin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Grimes wants to get back to his feet but Telushikin is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Grimes is looking to stand back up but Telushikin counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Grimes. Grimes felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Grimes looks like he's trying to stand up.
Telushikin is keen to just control but Grimes is a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Grimes stuffs the takedown. Grimes throws a hook but Telushikin blocks it. Telushikin moves away from the strike by Grimes. Grimes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Telushikin misses with a takedown and Grimes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Brian Grimes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Telushikin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Grimes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Telushikin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Grimes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Telushikin shoots in and drives through. Grimes sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Telushikin misses with a body kick. Grimes throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Telushikin looks for a takedown but Grimes sprawls well. Telushikin fails to land the takedown. Grimes jabbing away but nothing is landing. Grimes throws a low kick but Telushikin moves out of range easily. Nice body punch from Grimes. Telushikin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Grimes as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joseph Telushikin. Telushikin wants to free his trapped foot but Grimes is holding on for dear life with his legs. Telushikin prevents Grimes from standing back up.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Telushikin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Grimes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Telushikin. Grimes pushes Telushikin off looking to stand but Telushikin dives back in and keeps control.
Telushikin is looking to advance position but Grimes won't allow it. Grimes tries to kick Telushikin off but Telushikin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Telushikin is working for a submission of some sort.
Telushikin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Grimes is just riding it out for now. Telushikin eventually gives up the hold. Grimes is looking to get back to is feet but Telushikin passes into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Grimes manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Telushikin keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Telushikin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Grimes's elbow. A shot in the inside from Grimes. Telushikin jumps guard but Grimes stands there with Telushikin around his waist. Telushikin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Grimes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Telushikin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Telushikin looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Telushikin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Brian Grimes will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Telushikin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Grimes scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Grimes throws a series of punches but Telushikin moves out of range. Grimes connects with a body shot that sends Telushikin's belly button to the back. Telushikin has his takedown stuffed and Grimes counters with a straight that turns Telushikin's legs to rubber! Grimes pushes forward with more strikes and Telushikin goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
