Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Gonzaga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hulk Hogun!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Gonzaga both land. Nice combination.
Gonzaga looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Hogun takes the fight into the clinch.
Hogun stops a takedown attempt from Gonzaga.
Hogun jumps guard but Gonzaga stands there with Hogun around his waist. Hogun gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hogun tries to pull guard but Gonzaga holds him up against the cage and eventually Hogun drops back down to his feet.
Hogun drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gonzaga pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rodrigo Gonzaga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hulk Hogun.
Hogun changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Hogun gets a takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gonzaga is not content to let Hogun control the position.
Hogun passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gonzaga!

Hogun is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Hogun wants to control the pace but Gonzaga is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hogun has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gonzaga's face.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hogun wants to control the pace but Gonzaga is squirming around nicely.

That's time! Gonzaga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hogun tries to stall but Gonzaga uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hogun is pressed up against the cage. Gonzaga has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hogun down to the mat. Hogun avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hulk Hogun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hogun looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gonzaga!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gonzaga is trying to escape the mount.
Gonzaga might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hogun pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

I really don't envy Gonzaga right now.
Hogun is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Hogun has the hooks in. Gonzaga is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Hogun lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Gonzaga hold on?!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hulk Hogun showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Hogun fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hogun tries to clinch but Gonzaga is having none of it.
Hogun takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Gonzaga checks the leg kick.
Hogun lands a nice hook to Gonzaga's body. Gonzaga takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Hogun closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gonzaga to the mat! Gonzaga manages to get full guard.

Gonzaga lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hogun!
Gonzaga misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hogun is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hogun won't enjoy being in this position. Gonzaga looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Hogun is tapping - it's over boys! Gonzaga picks up the submission victory!
