PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stewie Griifin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hane Goshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stewie Griifin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Hane Goshi!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goshi misses with a low kick.
Goshi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Goshi throws a chopping leg kick but Griifin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Griifin lands a jab to the head.
Some wild striking there from Goshi.
Goshi throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Griifin.
Griifin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Goshi throws a head kick but Griifin moves out of range.
A punch combination from Goshi misses.
Goshi throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Griifin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goshi to the mat! Goshi manages to get full guard.
Griifin stops Goshi from standing up.
Goshi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Griifin looking to pass the guard.
Goshi can't keep his opponent in guard - Griifin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Griifin wants to take a breather but Goshi is having none of it.
Griifin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Goshi defending well though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griifin with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Goshi is staying active underneath Griifin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Goshi is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Griifin scores with a couple of nice shots.
Goshi wants to get back to his feet.
Griifin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Griifin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Goshi wants to get back to his feet.
Griifin is looking to take a break and control but Goshi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Griifin lands a nice short elbow.
Griifin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Goshi wants to get back to his feet.

Goshi kicks off Griifin and gets to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griifin looks to score with a jab to the body but Goshi is just out of range.
Griifin shoots in for a double leg but Goshi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Griifin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Goshi.

Griifin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Griifin lands in his opponent's guard.
Griifin is breathing heavily.
Griifin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Goshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griifin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Goshi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Griifin is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Goshi wants to sweep here but Griifin controlling him for the moment.
Griifin cracks Goshi with a solid left hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griifin stops Goshi from standing up.
Goshi keeping moving, preventing Griifin from controlling successfully.
Goshi wants to stand and escape but Griifin is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Goshi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Griifin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stewie Griifin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Griifin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Griifin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Goshi is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Griifin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Goshi's face.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Griifin looking to control but Goshi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Goshi tries to buck Griifin off but he can't manage it.

Griifin throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Goshi has his hands clasped together but Griifin breaks the hold and Goshi is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Griifin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Stewie Griifin!
