Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Peixoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henrique Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peixoto's entrance music is Nirvana - Breed. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Castro's choice of entrance music: Kreator - Hordes of Chaos. Henrique Castro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Peixoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henrique Castro! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Peixoto showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Castro.
Peixoto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Castro defending against the ground and pound. Peixoto scores with punches from side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Castro is trying to escape the position but Peixoto is controlling the position. Castro tries to buck Peixoto off but Peixoto is having none of it. Peixoto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Peixoto throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Castro is looking for a sweep. Peixoto trying to control the action but Castro is working from the bottom. Peixoto has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Peixoto darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro is pressing down on Peixoto's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Castro looks gassed! Peixoto wants to control from the top but Castro keeps moving. Peixoto is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Castro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peixoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Castro is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Peixoto dives into side control.
Peixoto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Castro on the ground. Peixoto wants to control but Castro is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Castro defending against the ground and pound. Peixoto with the ground and pound but Castro regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Castro is looking for a sweep. Peixoto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Peixoto throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peixoto keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Peixoto is looking to take a break and control but Castro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Peixoto misses with a takedown attempt - Castro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Castro throws a good cross that connects.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castro getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Castro lands a two punch combo.
Castro misses with an uppercut. Castro scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Castro throws a hook but Peixoto blocks it. Castro throws a hook but Peixoto avoids it easily. Peixoto avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Peixoto walks into a stiff left hand from Castro. Peixoto moves out of range of the strikes. Peixoto steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Castro. Castro throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Henrique Castro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Castro connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. A decent looking cross lands there for Castro. Castro throws a hook to the side of Peixoto's head but Peixoto sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Castro misses with a jab, cross combination.
Castro scores with a sloppy right hand. Peixoto should have avoided that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Castro connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Castro gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Castro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peixoto is one step ahead there. Castro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Peixoto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Peixoto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Castro had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Peixoto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Castro Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Peixoto's back instead. Peixoto trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lucas Peixoto dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Castro lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Peixoto fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Peixoto wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. A solid body kick from Peixoto. Peixoto uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Castro. Peixoto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Castro as he avoids it easily. Nice sprawl there from Castro as Peixoto shoots in. Peixoto staying out of range there. A jab lands there for Castro. Castro scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Castro cracks Peixoto with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Peixoto scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Castro tries to bench press Peixoto off him but Peixoto keeps the position. Peixoto stands up. Peixoto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Castro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro is looking to reverse the position. Peixoto tries to advance to mount but can't. Peixoto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Peixoto staying calm. Peixoto landing a few strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Castro sneaks back into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Peixoto wants to pass to mount but Castro is defending the position. Castro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Peixoto is thwarting Castro's attempts to control the position. Peixoto is looking for a kimura but Castro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Peixoto to get the leverage. Castro is looking to improve his position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Peixoto fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Peixoto. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab from Castro finds it's way through Peixoto's defenses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peixoto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Peixoto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Castro is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Peixoto tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Castro regains half guard. Peixoto is just content to waste time from the top position. Castro takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Peixoto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Peixoto wants to control from the top but Castro keeps moving. Peixoto stopping the sweep attempt from Castro. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lucas Peixoto dominated that second round. That's time! Peixoto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Peixoto uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Castro. Peixoto drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Peixoto preventing the sweep. Peixoto slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Castro prevents Peixoto from moving into mount. Castro is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Castro manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Peixoto controlling the action here. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Castro is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Peixoto pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro regains full guard. Nicely done. Castro has his foot on Peixoto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peixoto works his way back into a safe position though. Peixoto trying to control the position from guard on top but Castro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Castro is trying to control the position but Peixoto postures up. Castro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peixoto is one step ahead there. Castro keeping moving, preventing Peixoto from controlling successfully.

Castro connects with a single shot there. Peixoto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Castro's guard. Peixoto trying to control but Castro is working from the bottom. Castro looking for a sweep. Not yet Castro, not yet. Castro is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Lucas Peixoto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peixoto pushes down on Castro's leg and manages to get into half guard. Castro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Peixoto content to control rather than advance. Peixoto seems to be looking for submissions.

Henrique Castro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Peixoto trying to control the action but Castro is working from the bottom. Peixoto is thwarting Castro's attempts to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Peixoto looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Peixoto wants to take a breather but Castro is having none of it. Peixoto is looking for a kimura but Castro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Peixoto to get the leverage. Lucas Peixoto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight! Lucas Peixoto showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Peixoto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
