Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franky Yip (ranked 1904 p4p, 21 weight class) and Tom Jones (ranked 17201 p4p, 50 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franky Yip! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Jones! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones throws a hook to the side of Yip's head but Yip sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jones lands a nice shot that snaps Yip's head back.
Yip has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Jones misses with a hook from the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jones. Jones softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes. Yip can't get the takedown.
Jones lands a body punch in the clinch. Yip gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jones regains guard.
Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Yip. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yip accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jones has momentary wrist control but Yip slips an elbow through the middle. Yip with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Yip is controlling him. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Jones is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Yip dives into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Yip trying to control the position but Jones is working away. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. The strikes coming from Yip are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yip tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Jones wants to get back to his feet. Yip trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. Jones wants to get back to his feet but Yip drags him back down. Yip is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Jones is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Yip tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yip has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Jones tries to escape but Yip is in control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Yip connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.
Yip thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Yip is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there. Yip working the ground and pound. Yip wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working. Jones pushes Yip away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Yip gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Yip advances to full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yip ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away. Franky Yip is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jones takes the fight into the clinch. Yip drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jones lands a body punch. Yip turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Yip tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jones's legs. Jones is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Jones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. That's one minute gone in the round. Yip with shots to the head and body - Jones looks very uncomfortable down there. Yip won't let Jones get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Yip lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Yip trying to control but Jones is having none of it. A nice elbow there by Yip. Jones in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Jones is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.
Yip fails to take his opponent's back. Jones is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Yip has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Yip has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jones's face.
Jones is squirming around, avoiding Yip's attempts to control the action. Jones tries to buck Yip off but he can't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yip landing strikes, looking to finish! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yip can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape. Jones is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Yip lands a heavy elbow. Yip with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Yip cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Yip wants to take his opponent's back but Jones doesn't allow it. Franky Yip overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones is squirming around, avoiding Yip's attempts to control the action. Yip landing strikes, looking to finish! Yip lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Franky Yip dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Yip. Jones is looking for the big counter here. Yip takes a jab right on the kisser.

Yip moves out of range as Jones strikes. Jones ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Yip has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Yip walks into a stiff left hand from Jones. Yip slips under a jab. Yip displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab. Yip thows a left - swing and a miss! Despite the aggression on Jones's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Yip uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jones. Jones checks a low kick from Yip.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yip wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance. Jones throws out a counter right but Yip avoids it with no problem. Jones takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Jones throws a body shot but no joy. Yip swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Jones misses with a combination
and Yip counters with a straight right hand. Yip tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it. Yip throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Yip takes one on the button.
It looks like Franky Yip has been cut. Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Yip. Jones might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Jones ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Yip defending well as Jones loads up on a big left hand. A telegraphed right hand from Jones misses the target. Jones misses with an uppercut. Yip saw that one coming.

Jones punishes Yip's body with a nice straight punch. Jones misses with an uppercut. Yip saw that one coming. Yip tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones cracks Yip with a right hand to the side of the head. Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Yip prevents a body shot from Jones. Yip changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jones fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Franky Yip seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Yip rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Yip takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jones lands with a cross. Yip connects with a body shot that sends Jones's belly button to the back. Jones swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Yip. Yip slips under a jab. Jones lands a glancing blow to the side of Yip's head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones misses with a double jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Yip connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jones scrambles back to his feet. Yip fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it. Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Yip.
Yip turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Yip fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jones on the side of the head. Jones tries to clinch up. Jones checks the leg kick. Jones scores with a one two! Yip had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. A low kick from Yip misses and Jones counters with a straight right hand. Yip ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yip was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones. Jones gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Yip.
And that's the end of the fight! Tom Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Franky Yip wins by split decision! After the fight, Franky Yip was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
