PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blake Kidd (ranked 5077 p4p, 161 weight class) and Jerrod Tubbs (ranked 7027 p4p, 189 weight class). Kidd comes to the ring accompanied by Texas Hippie Coalition - Pissed Off and Mad About It. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Blake Kidd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerrod Tubbs!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tubbs darts in looking for a takedown but Kidd gets double underhooks and turns Tubbs into the ropes.
Tubbs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kidd closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tubbs quickly recovers to half guard.

Kidd is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tubbs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kidd.

Kidd is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tubbs is looking to improve his position.

Kidd is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tubbs defends it well.
Tubbs is looking for a sweep. Kidd is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kidd has hold of Tubbs's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tubbs manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Tubbs defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kidd.
Tubbs is bucking up trying to escape but Kidd cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


It looks like Jerrod Tubbs has been cut.

Kidd lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tubbs hang on?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kidd can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tubbs is looking to escape.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tubbs is defended easily by Kidd.
Tubbs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Kidd paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tubbs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kidd swivels and escapes.
Tubbs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kidd defends well and Tubbs ends up having to push Kidd into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Blake Kidd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerrod Tubbs.
Tubbs shoots for a takedown but Kidd saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Tubbs throws a right and a left that Kidd avoids nicely.
Tubbs tries for a takedown but Kidd sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kidd avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kidd wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Tubbs is looking to clinch but Kidd is avoiding it.
Tubbs scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

and Kidd counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kidd has Tubbs pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kidd pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Tubbs tumbling to the mat - Kidd dives into Tubbs's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kidd is trying to control the action in half guard but Tubbs is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kidd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tubbs can do to turn this around?
