PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Vespuci (ranked 2993 p4p, 255 weight class) and Condor McGruger (ranked 5049 p4p, 0 weight class). Vespuci's entrance music is The Ballroom Blitz. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vespuci scores with a takedown into McGruger's guard.

McGruger manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vespuci manages to get himself to full guard.

McGruger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vespuci has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGruger has managed to get both his arms back between Vespuci's legs - danger averted.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vespuci has momentary wrist control but McGruger slips an elbow through the middle.
McGruger connects with a couple of short punches.

McGruger bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vespuci's guard.

McGruger throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vespuci works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Vespuci escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGruger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vespuci is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGruger is aware though and is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McGruger lands a nice short elbow.

McGruger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Vespuci is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McGruger scores with a couple of nice shots.
Vespuci has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McGruger is working away from the top position though.
McGruger is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Vespuci is hurt! He's hurt bad - McGruger fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Vespuci from any more punishment! Congratulations to McGruger! Great finish!
