Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Memphis Aleist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Memphis Aleist has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Memphis Aleist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Aleist.
Aleist lands a jab to Emelianenko's midsection.
Emelianenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Aleist tries to sprawl out of it but Emelianenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aleist manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Emelianenko misses with a takedown attempt - Aleist sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Emelianenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Aleist sprawls well. He's pushed Emelianenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Memphis Aleist has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Emelianenko.
Emelianenko shoots in but no luck this time.

Aleist has taken the fight to the clinch.

Aleist has his feet on Emelianenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

It looks like Fedor Emelianenko has been cut.
Aleist connects with a single shot there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aleist lands a nice leg kick that just misses Emelianenko's sensitive parts.

Aleist is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Emelianenko cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aleist is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Aleist squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Aleist moves out of range as Emelianenko strikes.
Emelianenko falls off balance throwing a combination
and Aleist counters with a stiff right hand.
Memphis Aleist is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Emelianenko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Aleist moves into the clinch.
Emelianenko has had enough of the clinch but Aleist keeps him there for the moment.

Aleist drags the fight down to the ground.
Aleist pulls Emelianenko in close to his closed guard and prevents Emelianenko from doing any damage or advancing position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Aleist bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Emelianenko tries to buck Aleist off but Aleist is having none of it.
Memphis Aleist overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Emelianenko is trying to escape the position but Aleist is controlling the position.
Emelianenko pushes Aleist away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Aleist gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Aleist passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Emelianenko!
Emelianenko manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Aleist is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Aleist will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Emelianenko flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Well, if Aleist is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Emelianenko pushes Aleist off looking to stand but Aleist dives back in and keeps control.
Emelianenko is trying to maintain the position but Aleist is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Aleist decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Emelianenko is trying to stand up here but Aleist is controlling him well.

and Aleist counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Emelianenko!

and Aleist counters with a series of strikes. Emelianenko will be more careful next time no doubt.

Aleist breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Aleist tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Emelianenko was well out of range. Poor timing from Aleist.

and Aleist counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Emelianenko is looking to stand up but Aleist isn't so interested in that idea.

Aleist stands up and waves to Emelianenko to follow him.

Aleist closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Emelianenko is trying desperately to land a takedown but Aleist is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Emelianenko.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Emelianenko connects with a good right hand that stumbles Aleist. Aleist circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

and Aleist decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Emelianenko's guard.
Emelianenko wants to sweep here but Aleist controlling him for the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Memphis Aleist is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Aleist stands and steps away. Emelianenko gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Well Aleist has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
