PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Buck (ranked 3990 p4p, 402 weight class) and Marco Solis (ranked 3719 p4p, 384 weight class). Marco Solis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alan Buck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marco Solis!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buck throws a head kick but Solis moves out of range.
Solis takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Buck throws a sloppy head kick and Solis moves out of range easily.
Solis shoots for a double leg takedown but Buck sprawls well. He's pushed Solis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Solis slips a jab and a cross from Buck.

Solis gets tackled into the cage by Buck. Buck maintains the clinch.
Solis is working for takedown but Buck is calmly controlling the position for now.
Solis on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Buck misses with a knee to the head.
Buck just leaning against Solis, taking a breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Solis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Buck smiles and moves away.
Solis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Alan Buck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Solis.
Buck lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Solis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Buck closes the distance and clinches.

Buck breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Solis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Buck.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Buck enables Solis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Buck manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Solis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Solis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Solis stays in close to Buck's body and controls the position.
Buck looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Solis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Buck is keeping the position for now.
Solis wants to control from the top but Buck keeps moving.
Buck tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Solis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Buck works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Solis cracks Buck with a solid left hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Solis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Solis trying to control but Buck is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Buck avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Solis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Alan Buck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Buck throws a right and a left that both miss.
Solis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buck avoids it really well and circles away.
Alan Buck is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Buck swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Buck misses the shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buck stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Buck wants it to stay on the feet.

Solis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Buck manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Solis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Buck looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Buck looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Buck!

Solis sneaks back into half guard.
Solis is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alan Buck dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Solis swings for the body but Buck moves out of range.
Buck uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Solis.
Solis on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Buck. Buck obviously looking to wear him down.
Alan Buck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Buck throws a left and a right that both miss

and Solis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Buck won't be happy with that.
Buck tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Solis advances to mount.

Solis is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Buck can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Solis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Solis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Buck is looking to escape.
Solis unloads with some shots from mount but Buck bucks and avoids them well.

Solis is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Buck is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Marco Solis!
A relieved looking Marco Solis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
