Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Vasiliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Moy Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasiliev comes to the cage accompanied by Hate me now. Mendez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: War Machine - AC/DC. Moy Mendez acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oleg Vasiliev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Moy Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasiliev shoots in looking for a takedown. Mendez tries to sprawl out of it but Vasiliev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mendez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mendez scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Oleg Vasiliev has been cut.

Vasiliev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mendez tries to hold on but Vasiliev postures up.
Mendez is looking to improve his position but Vasiliev isn't that keen on the idea.
Mendez throwing hammer fists to the chest of Vasiliev. What's that going to do exactly?
Vasiliev trying to control but Mendez is having none of it.

Vasiliev looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mendez gets back to half guard.

Vasiliev is working for a kimura but Mendez is defending it quite comfortably.

Mendez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Vasiliev pulls his head out easily.

Vasiliev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mendez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mendez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Vasiliev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mendez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vasiliev is breathing heavily.
Mendez is looking for a sweep.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vasiliev working away.
Mendez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vasiliev kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Mendez is looking to regain half guard here but Vasiliev keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Mendez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mendez tries to clinch up but Vasiliev circles away and keeps his distance.

Mendez lands a head kick that stumbles Vasiliev and the fighters go to the mat.

Vasiliev working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mendez has passed into half guard!
Mendez wants to pass the guard but Vasiliev is defending well.

Mendez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vasiliev is just riding it out for now. Mendez eventually gives up the hold.

Mendez seems to be looking for submissions.
Mendez slips a nice elbow through Vasiliev's hands, connecting with Vasiliev's forehead.

Mendez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mendez is looking to take a break and control but Vasiliev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vasiliev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mendez is looking for a kimura here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vasiliev is refusing to be controlled, as Mendez sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moy Mendez dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Oleg Vasiliev's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vasiliev paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mendez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vasiliev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mendez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mendez is trying to get an arm triangle but Vasiliev is defending well.

Mendez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mendez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Vasiliev tries to improve position but can't.

Mendez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vasiliev has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mendez decides to stand back up. Mendez steps back and let's Vasiliev get back to his feet.
Vasiliev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mendez is working Vasiliev over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Vasiliev keeping moving, preventing Mendez from controlling successfully.

Vasiliev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mendez is pushing down on Vasiliev's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vasiliev is fighting to maintain full guard but Mendez has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mendez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vasiliev is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Moy Mendez!
