Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Stermann (ranked 24551 p4p, 267 weight class) and Jon Bumperstein (ranked 3962 p4p, 180 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Stermann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Bumperstein! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bumperstein fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stermann shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bumperstein pushes Stermann off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Stermann tries a head kick but it misses.
Stermann walks forward, straight into a front kick from Bumperstein. Bumperstein thuds his right hand into Stermann's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
It looks like Steve Stermann has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stermann takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Bumperstein throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stermann. Stermann is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Bumperstein. Nice body punch from Stermann. Bumperstein throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Stermann. Bumperstein moves into range and clinches up with Stermann. Bumperstein scores with a hook to the body. Bumperstein has picked Stermann up - he's going for a ride! Bumperstein dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Bumperstein throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Bumperstein sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stermann defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bumperstein is looking to take a break and control but Stermann is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bumperstein winds up and cracks Stermann with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Bumperstein is pressing down on Stermann's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stermann is holding on for now. Bumperstein throwing shots but Stermann is blocking nicely. Bumperstein wants to pass the guard but Stermann is defending well. Bumperstein slips a nice elbow through Stermann's hands, connecting with Stermann's forehead. Bumperstein is looking for a kimura here.
Bumperstein is looking to take a break and control but Stermann is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stermann is trying to maintain the position but Bumperstein is very close to passing his half guard. Stermann moves into full guard.
Bumperstein drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stermann dives on top into guard.
Bumperstein has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stermann can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bumperstein can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stermann controls the pace. Bumperstein is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. The fighters are working up against the cage. Bumperstein manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bumperstein is working for takedown but Stermann is calmly controlling the position for now. Bumperstein pulls guard effortlessly. Stermann tries to stand but Bumperstein is controlling from the bottom. Bumperstein throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Stermann wants to stand and escape but instead Bumperstein has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Bumperstein wants to pass the guard but Stermann is keeping the position. Bumperstein trying to control but Stermann is working from the bottom. Stermann is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bumperstein landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bumperstein loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bumperstein missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Bumperstein decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. A cross from Bumperstein lands. Bumperstein avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stermann tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bumperstein manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Stermann darts in looking for a takedown but Bumperstein gets double underhooks and turns Stermann into the cage. Bumperstein explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stermann is defended easily by Bumperstein. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Bumperstein dominated that round. The cut man is working on Steve Stermann's cut. That's time! Stermann's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Bumperstein dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Bumperstein lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Bumperstein stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Stermann. Bumperstein circles away from the clinch attempt letting Bumperstein counter with a right hand. Bumperstein throws a combination that misses and Stermann counters with a left and a right that stings Bumperstein. Bumperstein's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bumperstein's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Stermann gets a takedown into half guard. Bumperstein has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Stermann is on him like a limpet, forcing Bumperstein back against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stermann is trying to break the clinch but Bumperstein is controlling him. Bumperstein drags the fight down to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bumperstein can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stermann controls the pace. Stermann throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bumperstein works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bumperstein lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Bumperstein slips nicely into half guard. Bumperstein thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stermann's head. Stermann wants to get back to full guard. Bumperstein drops an elbow to the side of Stermann's head. Stermann is looking to improve his position.
Bumperstein is taking a breather. Stermann says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stermann wants to control but Bumperstein is keeping busy and won't allow it. Bumperstein looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stermann is looking to control Bumperstein's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stermann avoid being mounted? Bumperstein has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Bumperstein is working for a kimura but Stermann is defending it quite comfortably.
Bumperstein is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stermann sees it coming and defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bumperstein seems to be looking for submissions.
Stermann keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bumperstein sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stermann defending well though. Stermann is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bumperstein is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stermann doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bumperstein. Bumperstein is working for a submission of some sort.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bumperstein lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Bumperstein seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Stermann is staying active underneath Bumperstein, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Bumperstein is trying to work for a kimura but Stermann is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stermann tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Bumperstein has advanced to mount. Uh oh. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Bumperstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Steve Stermann's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Bumperstein. Bumperstein throws a right and a left that both miss. Bumperstein works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Bumperstein lands a hook that stumbles Stermann back into the cage. Bumperstein follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Stermann to the canvas! Bumperstein pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Stermann has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
