The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Whitaker misses.
Kuznetsov throws a big counter combination but Whitaker scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
A right-left combo lands from Kuznetsov.

Whitaker closes the distance and pushes Kuznetsov back into the cage.

Whitaker takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Whitaker throws a series of punches but Kuznetsov avoids them all with ease.
Donk. Whitaker catches Kuznetsov right on the button with a cross.
Whitaker misses with a wild body shot.
Kuznetsov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Whitaker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kuznetsov circles away quickly and effectively.
Sloppy strikes from Whitaker . Those never looked like landing.
Kuznetsov fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Whitaker darts in and clinches Kuznetsov up against the cage.
Kuznetsov trying to control the position but instead, Whitaker has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kuznetsov into the cage.
Whitaker throws a punch but it's blocked by Kuznetsov.
Kuznetsov tries to circle away but Whitaker has him pinned against the cage.

Kuznetsov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Whitaker throws a looping overhand right but Kuznetsov ducks down to avoid it.

Kuznetsov is looking to wear down Whitaker with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Whitaker scores with a hook to the body. Kuznetsov takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Whitaker gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Kuznetsov gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nikolai Kuznetsov!
After the fight, Nikolai Kuznetsov was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
