The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calaway tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Calaway tries to clinch there but Bredshaw circles away.

Bredshaw closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Calaway to the mat! Calaway manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bredshaw is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Bredshaw postures up in Calaway's guard and throws a big left but Calaway blocks it. Bredshaw has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Calaway has his feet on Bredshaw's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Calaway tries to clinch up. A big left from Bredshaw misses. Calaway tries to clinch but Bredshaw moves out of range. Calaway is looking to clinch but Bredshaw is avoiding it.

Urijah Calaway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Calaway closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Calaway is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Calaway has had enough of the clinch but Bredshaw keeps him there for the moment. That's four minutes gone in the round. Calaway keeps control of Bredshaw as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Calaway digs a right hand underneath Bredshaw's ribcage. Bredshaw let out a lung full of air as it connected. Calaway is trying to break free. Calaway prevents Bredshaw from breaking the clinch. Calaway looking to stall.

Calaway tries to clinch up and Bredshaw counters by moving into the clinch. Calaway wants to get back to striking at distance but Bredshaw won't allow it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Calaway takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Calaway pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bredshaw tries to clinch but Calaway is having none of it. Bredshaw moves in looking to clinch but Calaway pushes him off. Calaway tries to clinch but fails miserably and Bredshaw holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bredshaw's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Calaway lunges at Bredshaw with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bredshaw's hand. Bredshaw throws a head kick but Calaway moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bredshaw lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Calaway has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Calaway and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Bredshaw throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Calaway, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Calaway tries to clinch but Bredshaw moves away so Bredshaw counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Bredshaw pushes down on Calaway's leg and manages to get into half guard. Bredshaw stalling. Bredshaw frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bredshaw wants to control the pace but Calaway is squirming around nicely. Bredshaw is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Calaway can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Bredshaw wants to finish this one by submission but Calaway is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bredshaw. Bredshaw with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bredshaw working for a guillotine from mount but Calaway is in no mood to give up. Calaway blocking the ground and pound. Bredshaw lands a big shot there that rocks Calaway but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bredshaw has hold of Calaway's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Calaway manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Aaron Bredshaw. Bredshaw fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Calaway is out of range. Bredshaw tries to clinch up. Calaway closes the distance but Bredshaw moves to the side and Bredshaw counters with a takedown into side control. Bredshaw wants to control but Calaway is keeping him busy. Bredshaw wants to take a breather but Calaway manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Bredshaw.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bredshaw slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Bredshaw throwing shots but missing, from side control. A lull in the action here as Bredshaw stalls from top position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aaron Bredshaw. I think Bredshaw has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
