Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Wright Phillps (ranked 7119 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Kent (ranked 4912 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ready for war. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Wright Phillps! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Kent! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kent moves into the clinch. Wright Phillps is trying to force a seperation but Kent has the dominant position. Kent has clasped his hands together around Wright Phillps's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Kent working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Wright Phillps manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kent's best efforts. Kent postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Wright Phillps to stand up. Kent throws a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kent closes the distance and pushes Wright Phillps back into the cage. Kent pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Wright Phillps throws a body shot but no joy. Wright Phillps shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kent as he jumps to the side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright Phillps gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Wright Phillps throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Kent slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Wright Phillps. Wright Phillps trying to control but Kent postures up.
Wright Phillps holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Kent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wright Phillps. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wright Phillps trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kent tries to stand and escape but Wright Phillps actually recovers to full guard. Kent showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Kent scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Kent slips nicely into half guard. Wright Phillps is not content to let Kent control the position. Wright Phillps trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright Phillps makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wright Phillps. Wright Phillps is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Wright Phillps content to control rather than advance. Kent is trying to get back to full guard. Wright Phillps trying to mount his opponent but Kent defends it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth. Kent is positioning himself well to prevent Wright Phillps advancing to mount. Wright Phillps tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kent fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wright Phillps to the ground. Kent is now in Wright Phillps's guard. Wright Phillps is looking to stand back up but Kent counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Wright Phillps. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kent with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Kent dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Kent shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kent is thwarting Wright Phillps's attempts to control the position. Kent seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Wright Phillps keeping hold of Kent's head, controlling as best he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wright Phillps is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright Phillps is working hard here to advance position. Wright Phillps is looking to escape. Kent trying to control from half guard but Wright Phillps is working away. Kent slips a nice elbow through Wright Phillps's hands, connecting with Wright Phillps's forehead. Kent stops Wright Phillps from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kent decides to stand and escape the position. Wright Phillps tries to clinch there but Kent circles away.
Mark Wright Phillps is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kent looks to land a combination. Wright Phillps sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Kent defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wright Phillps. Wright Phillps with a poor takedown and Kent counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kent trying to control from Wright Phillps's half guard. Wright Phillps has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Kent stays in close to Wright Phillps's body and controls the position. Alex Kent has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kent wants to get up but he can't break Wright Phillps's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Kent wants to control from the top but Wright Phillps keeps moving. Kent stopping the sweep attempt from Wright Phillps. Kent works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wright Phillps wants to control but Kent is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kent trying to control the position from guard on top but Wright Phillps is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wright Phillps being controlled here, momentarily. Wright Phillps is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Wright Phillps keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kent changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wright Phillps tries to avoid it but Kent manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wright Phillps to the ground. Wright Phillps escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wright Phillps throws a combination that misses and Kent counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Wright Phillps wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kent manages to pass to side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Kent showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Wright Phillps enables Kent to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wright Phillps manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Kent showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Wright Phillps is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wright Phillps working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kent doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Wright Phillps is tightening it up a little... Kent has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kent reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kent taps out! Nice BJJ there by Wright Phillps!
