Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Smith (ranked 4620 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Rose (ranked 4567 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Luis Rose!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Smith as Rose shoots in.
Luis Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rose shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rose.
Smith is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rose.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rose tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rose somewhat.

Rose shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rose dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Rose closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rose lands in his opponent's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rose is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Rose swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As Smith backs off Rose throws a huge counter combo but Smith manages to avoid it all.
Rose dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Rose's head and hops out.

Rose shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
As Rose tries to get set, Smith tries to push him back and clinch up but Rose manages to avoid the attempt.

Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rose gets full guard.
Rose has momentary wrist control but Smith slips an elbow through the middle.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rose has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Rose's legs - danger averted.
Rose throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Smith working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rose's head.

Rose looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Smith passes into side control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rose changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Rose manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
