Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronnie Jennings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wang Li!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jennings blocks the body kick.
Li misses with a takedown attempt
and Jennings counters with a one-two to the body.

Li gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Jennings pulls Li into guard.

Jennings looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Jennings working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Li doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Li manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Li got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jennings has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Li has managed to get both his arms back between Jennings's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jennings is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jennings pulls Li in close to his closed guard and prevents Li from doing any damage or advancing position.
Li wants to pass the guard but Jennings is keeping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Li postures up in Jennings's guard and throws a big left but Jennings blocks it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Li accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Li throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jennings works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Li tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jennings swivels and escapes.
Jennings changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Li throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jennings is looking to counter with head kicks.
Jennings is looking to clinch but Li is avoiding it.
Li has a takedown stuffed.
Li just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromJennings.
Ronnie Jennings has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wang Li.

Li fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A head kick misses from Li.
Some wild striking there from Li.
No luck for Li with that takedown attempt.
Li tries to clinch but Jennings is having none of it.
Nice sprawl there from Jennings as Li shoots in.
Jennings is looking to counter the offense by Li and move into the clinch.
Wang Li seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Li tries to clinch there but Jennings circles away.
Li shoots in but Jennings avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jennings attempts a counter takedown but Li avoids it well and moves away.
Li looks winded!
Li just misses with a punch to the body.
Jennings is looking to counter with head kicks.
Li dives in and grabs Jennings's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jennings pushes down on Li's head and hops out.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Jennings is looking to clinch but Li is avoiding it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jennings avoids the head kick by Li.
Li lands with a cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ronnie Jennings dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Li instigates a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Li as Jennings tries to tie him up.
Jennings jumps guard but Li turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Jennings breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Li tries a head kick but it misses.

and Jennings counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jennings.

Li pushes Jennings off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Li throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jennings counters with a leg kick.
Li is breathing heavily.

Li closes the distance and clinches.
Jennings is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Li gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jennings's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Li is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jennings sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ronnie Jennings has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wang Li.
Jennings circles away from the clinch attempt.
Li closes the distance and clinches up with Jennings, looking for a takedown. Li pushes Jennings against the cage but Jennings circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Li fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Li tries for a takedown but Jennings sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jennings thinks about countering with a head kick.

Jennings scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Li is looking to get back to his feet here but Jennings is keeping cool and he's managed to take Li's back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Li is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Jennings just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jennings has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Li! Can he survive? No! He's out! Jennings gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
