PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Deertay (ranked 4056 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lord Oppenheimer (ranked 4259 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lord Oppenheimer was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joey Deertay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lord Oppenheimer!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oppenheimer moves out of range as Deertay throws a body kick.
Oppenheimer changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Deertay shoots in and bounces Oppenheimer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Deertay is standing up over Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer looks to escape but Deertay dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deertay has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Oppenheimer!
Oppenheimer wants to get back to his feet.
Oppenheimer has given up his back. Will we see Deertay going for some submissions?
Oppenheimer is trying to get back to his feet but Deertay has full control of the position and if anything, Oppenheimer has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Deertay looking to break Oppenheimer's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Oppenheimer remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Deertay will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oppenheimer lands a head shot.
Oppenheimer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oppenheimer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Deertay at a distance.
Oppenheimer looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Deertay shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Oppenheimer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Oppenheimer manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Deertay is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Oppenheimer can't fight it off and eventually Deertay manages to take the fight to the floor. Oppenheimer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Oppenheimer is looking to stand up but Deertay isn't so interested in that idea.

Oppenheimer pushes Deertay off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Deertay scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Oppenheimer kicks Deertay off and gets back to his feet.
We've been informed that Oppenheimer has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Oppenheimer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Deertay.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Oppenheimer, right into the meat.
Oppenheimer takes a swing at Deertay's ribcage but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey Deertay will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Oppenheimer slips a jab from Deertay.
Deertay looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Deertay has Oppenheimer up against the cage in a clinch.
Oppenheimer is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Deertay is keeping busy.

Deertay gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Oppenheimer regains guard.
Deertay wants to control from the top but Oppenheimer keeps moving.
Deertay trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Deertay thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Deertay tries to pass to full mount but Oppenheimer defends it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Deertay wants to free his trapped foot but Oppenheimer is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Oppenheimer is looking to escape.
Deertay moves into full mount! Oppenheimer won't be happy about that!
Oppenheimer is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Deertay can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Oppenheimer is looking to escape.
Deertay with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Deertay works his way to his opponent's back.
Oppenheimer trying to get back to his feet but Deertay is in full control for now.

Oppenheimer is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Deertay is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Oppenheimer knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Oppenheimer for a finish.

Deertay has got one arm under Oppenheimer's chin. This could be trouble... Oppenheimer trying to control the other hand but Deertay gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Oppenheimer has tapped out! The fight is over!
