Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Two Chainz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Red! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Red takes a head kick and keeps coming.
It looks like Kurt Red has been cut. Red gets tackled into the cage by Chainz. Chainz maintains the clinch. Red looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Chainz scores with a shoulder strike. Red misses with an elbow over the top. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Chainz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Red tries to clinch but Chainz moves away and Chainz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Both fighters circling a little - Chainz finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Chainz throws a head kick that half lands.
Two Chainz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chainz is looking to slow Red down with leg kicks. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Danga de danga de dang - Chainz scores with a four punch combination! Red looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Red shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chainz pinned against the cage. Chainz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chainz did well to prevent Red getting side control. Chainz has one foot on Red's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Chainz gets in close and instigates a clinch. Chainz holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Red is trying to drag Chainz to the mat but Chainz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Red is trying to pull guard but Chainz has him pressed against the cage. Two Chainz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Red. Red is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Chainz breaks from the clinch.
Two Chainz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Red falls off balance throwing a combination
and Chainz counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Some wild striking there from Chainz.
The fight stays on the outside here - Red looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Chainz appears to be looking for a big counter. Chainz lands a nice shot to the body.
Red on the wrong end of a nice jab. A decent looking body kick lands there for Chainz. Chainz lands a big head kick that sends Red to the canvas! Chainz follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Two Chainz! An out of breath Two Chainz thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
