Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Miguel Cotto (ranked 3324 p4p, 385 weight class) and James Gregor (ranked 1873 p4p, 246 weight class). James Gregor has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Cotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Gregor!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotto throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like James Gregor has been cut.
Gregor throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cotto on the side of the head.
Gregor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cotto slips a jab from Gregor.
Cotto throws a wild body kick that Gregor sees coming a mile off.
It seemed like Gregor was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Cotto falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gregor counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Gregor misses with a hook.
Cotto looks to clinch
and Gregor counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gregor waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Cotto.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gregor misses with a looping left.
Cotto throws a nice outside leg kick.
Cotto ducks under a wild hook from Gregor.

Cotto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Cotto is working Gregor over against the ropes.
Gregor misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cotto missing with knees to the body.
Gregor told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Cotto cracks Gregor with a nice body shot.
A head punch on the inside from Cotto fails to land.

Gregor breaks from the clinch.
Gregor throws a right hand that misses
and Cotto counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Gregor looks winded!

Cotto lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fighters circling - Gregor throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Cotto rushes Gregor and presses him up against the ropes.
Cotto goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Cotto lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Cotto misses with a punch on the inside.
Cotto scores with an uppercut up the middle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gregor blocks a body shot from Cotto.
A short body shot lands from Cotto as the two fighters clinch.
Gregor wants to break the clinch but can't.
Cotto takes an elbow to the forehead.
Cotto tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Cotto swings wildly with an uppercut but Gregor uses good head movement to avoid it.

Cotto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gregor throws a nice looking combination but Cotto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gregor scores with a one two! Cotto had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Gregor misses with a combination
and Cotto counters with a nice uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Cotto dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Gregor's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cotto jabs Gregor right on the nose. Gregor blinks but takes it well.
Miguel Cotto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cotto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gregor is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Cotto lands a head shot.
Cotto drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gregor loads up on a big right hand but Cotto slips the punch.
Gregor throws a right hand that Cotto ducks under and follows up with a left that Cotto also avoids with ease.

Cotto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A combination from Gregor does no damage.
Cotto jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Gregor fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Gregor takes a head kick and keeps coming.


That has opened up James Gregor's cut even more.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cotto displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gregor throws out the jab.

Gregor has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cotto.
Cotto wants to clinch up but Gregor keeps it at a distance.
Good exchange - Gregor coming out on top.


It looks like Miguel Cotto has been cut.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Cotto.
Cotto looks to throw a body kick
and Gregor counters with a series of strikes. Cotto will be more careful next time no doubt.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cotto, as that shot connected.
Cotto throws a head kick that Gregor semi-blocks.
Cotto feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gregor's calf.
Cotto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
James Gregor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cotto tries to close the distance and clinch but Gregor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gregor will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Miguel Cotto is winning the standup battle so far.

Gregor swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gregor throws a looping overhand right but Cotto ducks down to avoid it.
Gregor misses with an uppercut
and Cotto makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Cotto misses with a wild combination.
Cotto tries to clinch but Gregor is having none of it.
Gregor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cotto misses with a leg kick
and Gregor counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cotto catches Gregor with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


The cut above James Gregor's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Cotto displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gregor throws out the jab.
Miguel Cotto is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gregor blocks a head kick by Cotto.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Miguel Cotto will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Gregor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gregor takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Gregor on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cotto. Cotto obviously looking to wear him down.
Cotto slips a straight right by Gregor.
Cotto lands with a kick to the ribs.
Cotto plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Cotto throws a low kick, looking for Gregor's leg but Gregor calmly moves out of range.
Gregor swings for the body but Cotto moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cotto walks into a left hand.
Cotto tries to clinch there but Gregor circles away.
Gregor scores with a punch to the head.
Cotto is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Cotto connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Cotto moves forwards but Gregor connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Cotto throws out a head kick that Gregor doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Gregor crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Gregor's eyes and has decided to let it go on!


James Gregor's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Gregor's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Miguel Cotto!
Miguel Cotto spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
