Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
48 - 40 - 0, fighting out of London, Doctor Doolittle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
58 - 42 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, John Kyle Romo! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romo tries to clinch but Doolittle is having none of it. Doolittle throws out a head kick that Romo doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Romo crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Romo's eyes and has decided to let it go on!
It looks like John Kyle Romo has been cut. Romo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Romo misses with a straight right. Romo ducks under a wild hook from Doolittle. Romo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A slow jab from Romo misses its intended target. Romo fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Romo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Romo working aggressively here.
Romo tries to throw a body punch but Doolittle avoids it by throwing Romo back against the ropes. Romo misses with a body punch.
Doolittle lands with a light punch inside. A head punch on the inside from Romo fails to land. Doolittle has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. A short uppercut from Doolittle. Doolittle lands a nice uppercut.
Romo is rocked! Romo working aggressively here.
Romo is still on wobbly legs! Can Doolittle finish him? Doolittle cracks Romo with a big uppercut, right up the middle and Romo goes down! Oh, he's hurt! He's bigtime hurt! The referee is giving him a chance to get back to his feet - 4,5,6,7, no, he's called it off! Romo wasn't going to make it and the fight is over!
