The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz looks to clinch
and Blankenship counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Blankenship scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Blankenship is dominant here and he's now got Diaz's back!
Blankenship is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Blankenship misses with punches from the back.
Diaz is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Blankenship has the hooks in. Diaz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Blankenship will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Blankenship throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
I really don't envy Diaz right now.
Blankenship is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Diaz defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Blankenship has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Diaz's body.

Blankenship is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Diaz knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Diaz for a finish.
