Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hobert Vance! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Cook! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cook shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vance is trying to defend but Cook finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Vance has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cook is working away from the top position though. Cook content to control rather than advance. Cook throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vance throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Cook manages to pass to side control. Vance is trying to work for a sweep but Cook has mounted him!
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook looking to control and managing it successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee warns Vance that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Cook lands a big shot there that rocks Vance but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Vance is trying desperately to improve position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cook trying to control but Vance is having none of it. Vance is trying to escape the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cook scoring with strikes but Vance is staying in there. Cook breaks from Vance's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Vance is rocked!
It looks like Hobert Vance has been cut. Cook postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Vance bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Cook and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carl Cook!
