Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Louis Edwards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Richard McAuliffe! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McAuliffe lands the left hand. The fight moves into the clinch position. McAuliffe has picked Edwards up - he's going for a ride! McAuliffe dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. McAuliffe wants to control but Edwards is keeping him busy. McAuliffe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Edwards is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. McAuliffe looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McAuliffe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Edwards actively working from the bottom here. Edwards knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McAuliffe on the ground. McAuliffe lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. McAuliffe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Edwards does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. McAuliffe is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Edwards sees it coming and defends easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Edwards keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. McAuliffe not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. McAuliffe missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Edwards tries to get to full guard but McAuliffe has control of the leg. McAuliffe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Edwards keeps working. McAuliffe controlling the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Edwards closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McAuliffe to the mat! McAuliffe manages to get full guard. Edwards looking to sit in guard and control but McAuliffe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Edwards trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McAuliffe trying to control the position from guard on top but Edwards is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McAuliffe won't allow Edwards to sweep him here. McAuliffe thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Edwards escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McAuliffe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Edwards looking to hit a scissor sweep but McAuliffe is one step ahead there. McAuliffe lands a couple of digs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Edwards keeping moving, preventing McAuliffe from controlling successfully. McAuliffe wanted to stand there but Edwards had control of the position. McAuliffe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Edwards swivels though and keeps the full guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McAuliffe wants to control from the top but Edwards keeps moving.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Edwards drops his hands momentarily and McAuliffe takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Richard McAuliffe dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
McAuliffe throws a nice looking combination but Edwards bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Edwards seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. McAuliffe leaves Edwards with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The fighters circling - McAuliffe throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Edwards goes for a double leg but McAuliffe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McAuliffe continues to drive forward. Edwards tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McAuliffe swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Louis Edwards. That's going to take a lot out of him. McAuliffe with a jab. McAuliffe circles away from the clinch attempt.
McAuliffe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. McAuliffe lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice defenses there by Edwards. Edwards looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Despite the aggression on McAuliffe's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Edwards shoots and misses and McAuliffe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. McAuliffe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. McAuliffe lands with a right hand. Louis Edwards is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McAuliffe defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Edwards. Edwards gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McAuliffe connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A combination from Edwards does no damage. Edwards fails with the takedown and McAuliffe counters with a stiff right hand. McAuliffe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McAuliffe pushes Edwards up against the cage in a clinch. McAuliffe drags the fight down to the ground.
McAuliffe controls Edwards momentarily but Edwards frees himself. McAuliffe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McAuliffe trying to stand up but can't free himself from Edwards's guard. McAuliffe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McAuliffe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Edwards keeping moving, preventing McAuliffe from controlling successfully. Edwards utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. McAuliffe preventing the sweep. McAuliffe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Edwards is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards keeping moving, preventing McAuliffe from controlling successfully. McAuliffe pushes down on Edwards's leg and manages to get into half guard. McAuliffe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Edwards defend it? McAuliffe steps over the head and cranks it - Edwards is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McAuliffe!

Richard McAuliffe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
