Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randall Cobb (ranked 1068 p4p, 134 weight class) and Carlos Ruas (ranked 620 p4p, 82 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Randall Cobb! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas swings for the body but Cobb moves out of range.
Cobb misses with a hook. Ruas ducked under it nicely. Ruas tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A slow jab from Cobb misses its intended target. Cobb throws a hook but Ruas avoids it easily. Ruas with a body punch. A glancing blow. Ruas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cobb misses with an uppercut. Ruas saw that one coming. Cobb misses with a hook. Cobb misses with a looping right. Ruas takes one on the chin but seems OK.
It looks like Carlos Ruas has been cut. Cobb is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Ruas's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Cobb lunges at Ruas with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ruas's hand. Ruas clinches up with Cobb and pushes him back against the cage. Ruas jumps guard but Cobb turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. A head punch on the inside from Cobb fails to land. Ruas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Ruas tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Ruas pulls guard effortlessly.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas looking to control.
Cobb wants to get up but he can't break Ruas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ruas is looking for a triangle but Cobb pushes his legs off easily.
Cobb stopping the sweep attempt from Ruas. Ruas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cobb doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cobb manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Ruas looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruas controls Cobb momentarily but Cobb frees himself. Cobb knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruas on the ground. Cobb wants to stand but Ruas is controlling his posture from full guard. Ruas doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ruas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cobb is one step ahead there. Ruas lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Ruas tries to free his leg and advance position but Cobb is retaining full guard. Cobb is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ruas is controlling him. Ruas trying to control but Cobb is working from the bottom. Ruas passes into half guard. Ruas wants to pass the guard but Cobb is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas trying to control from half guard but Cobb is working away. Ruas trying to pass the guard but Cobb defending well. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ruas wants to take a breather but Cobb is having none of it. Cobb has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruas is working away from the top position though. Ruas is looking for a kimura here.
Ruas passes to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Cobb wants to control but Ruas postures up. Ruas wants to control but Cobb is keeping him busy. Ruas has hold of Cobb's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Cobb seems comfortable defending it but Ruas has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Cobb is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Cobb is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ruas couldn't care less - he's delighted!
