The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dittrich throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sanchez slips a jab and a cross from Dittrich.
Sanchez scores a takedown into full mount! Sanchez controlling the pace for now. Sanchez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dittrich for as long as he can get away with. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dittrich wants to control but Sanchez is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dittrich is squirming around, avoiding Sanchez's attempts to control the action. Sanchez avoids the attempt from Dittrich to control. Dittrich regains half guard. Dittrich is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sanchez sitting and controlling from the half guard. Dittrich tries to roll over but Sanchez keeps him under control. Sanchez wants to take a breather but Dittrich is having none of it. Sanchez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dittrich is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dittrich has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanchez is working away from the top position though. Sanchez wants to take a breather but Dittrich is having none of it. The fighters are battling for position here. Dittrich manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Dittrich keeps moving. Sanchez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Anthony Sanchez just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Dittrich fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice sprawl there from Dittrich as Sanchez shoots in. No joy there for Dittrich, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dittrich tries a head kick but it misses.
Dittrich stuffs the takedown. Sanchez shoots in and drives through. Dittrich sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dittrich plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Anthony Sanchez has been cut. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Dittrich! Sanchez is out on his feet! Dittrich rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Sanchez is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Sanchez is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
