Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Preston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas Preston could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to John Lam's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lucas Preston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Lam!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston blocks a low kick nicely.
Preston checks the leg kick.
Lam throws a leg kick but Preston checks it.
Lam throws and low kick but Preston moves out of range easily.
Lam tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Lam motions for Preston to come forward. Lam throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Lam throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Preston fails with a takedown attempt.
Preston shoots for a double leg takedown but Lam sprawls well. He's pushed Preston's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Preston throws a head kick that misses.
Lam throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
No luck for Preston with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Preston. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lam throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Lam tries to land a leg kick but Preston saw it coming and moves away.

Lam closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A bone on bone clash there as Preston blocks the leg kick.
Lam scores with the left hand. Preston knows he should have avoided that one.

and Lam decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Preston's guard.
Preston is breathing heavily.
Lam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Preston swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Preston lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lam!
Lam regains half guard.
Preston thows a huge punch but Lam dodges it nicely.

Preston is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lam sees it coming and defends easily.
Lam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Preston is looking for a kimura but Lam is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Preston to get the leverage.
Preston wants to stand but Lam has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Preston throws a strike but Lam avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Lam trying to keep a closed guard but Preston is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lam wants to slow Preston down by chopping away at his legs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lam throws an overhand right that lands on Preston's shoulder, as Preston tries to avoid the shot.
Good work by Preston as he checks the leg kick.

and Lam counters with a lovely shot to the body.

so Lam counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lam not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Preston is striking off his back. Lam thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Lam seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Preston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Preston is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lam's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lam's back!
Lucas Preston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Lam is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

John Lam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lam has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
