Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darnell Cane (ranked 689 p4p, 97 weight class) and Dick Army (ranked 486 p4p, 70 weight class). Army comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dick Army kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darnell Cane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 47 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Army!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cane takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Cane fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Army sprawls well initially but Cane persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Army kicks Cane off and gets back to his feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Army darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Army walks into a left hand.
Darnell Cane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Army misses with a body punch
enabling Cane to counter with a crisp jab.
Army takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Army ducks under a wild hook from Cane.
Cane lands a right hook to the body.
Cane misses with a straight right.
Army throws a fast counter high kick but Cane manages to duck under it in time.
Army pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cane misses with an uppercut
enabling Army to counter with a crisp jab.
Cane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Army circles away.
Army swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Cane lands a leg kick that knocks Army off balance momentarily.
Cane tries to clinch up
and Army counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cane thinking.

Cane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Army throws a big counter head kick but Cane avoids it with no problem.
Cane has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Team Croatia in the buildup to the fight.
A jab from Army does it's job there.
Nice shot lands for Cane.
Cane misses with a right hand
and Army counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cane thinking.
Army throws a good cross that connects.
Army lands a nice looking body kick.
Cane gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Army throws a body kick that misses.
Army throws a right hand that Cane ducks under and follows up with a left that Cane also avoids with ease.
Army has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Cane fails with the takedown
and Army counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Army needs to keep his hands up - Cane had a free shot at his head there.
Cane fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Army manages to avoid it.
And Army responds with a good body kick, but Cane manages to step out the way in time.
Army misses with a kick to the body.
Cane throws a hook to the side of Army's head but Army sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cane.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darnell Cane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Army takes one to the chin there.
Army misses with an uppercut. Cane saw that one coming.
Dick Army is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cane throws a looping overhand right but Army ducks down to avoid it.
Cane throws a poor cross that misses
and Army counters with a big head kick but Cane shrugs it off.
Army takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Cane scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Army doesn't seem bothered though.
Army moves away from the strike by Cane.
A swing and a miss from Cane.
Cane lands a right hook to the body.
Cane misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Army.
Army scores with a push kick.
Army throws a jab but it's blocked by Cane.

Cane shoots in and gets a takedown into Army's guard.
Cane with a flurry of punches that miss.
Army has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Cane throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Army swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cane postures up and lands a big shot to Army's brow.
Army trying to control the position here.

Cane postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Army is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cane, into his guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Army slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Army wants to control from the top but Cane keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dick Army will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Dick Army seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Cane swings widly with a right hand
and Army counters with a nice body shot.
Cane avoids the body shot from Army.
Army slips under a jab from Cane.
Army throws a big counter head kick but Cane avoids it with no problem.

Cane shoots in and gets a takedown into Army's guard.
Army is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cane dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sloppy strikes there by Cane.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Army tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cane tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Army is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Army is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Cane throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Cane seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cane drops an elbow to the side of Army's head.
Army is looking to control Cane's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Army avoid being mounted?
Cane looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Darnell Cane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cane sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Army defending well though.
Cane missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Cane throwing shots but Army is blocking nicely.
Cane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Army moves into full guard.
Cane missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Army utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cane trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Army trying to keep a closed guard but Cane is proving a slippery customer.
Cane is looking to work some ground and pound but Army has wrist control.

Cane throws a big right hand that misses.

Cane drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Army manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cane has Army in his guard.

Cane looking to hit a scissor sweep but Army is one step ahead there.

Cane escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Army gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Army wants to get up but he can't break Cane's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Army controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cane has control of Army's left arm, preventing Army from doing any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cane wants to sweep but no luck.
Cane controlling Army's posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cane blocks a low kick nicely.
Cane throws a right hand that misses
and Army counters with a nice body shot.
Army missing with a left hand there. Cane was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cane throws an overhand right that lands on Army's shoulder, as Army tries to avoid the shot.
Cane looks to land a right hand but Army moved out of range.
Army is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Cane with a body shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cane gets the takedown into side control.

Army sneaks out the side door and pushes Cane away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Cane connects with a right hand. Army shakes it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darnell Cane dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Army takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Cane fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Army manages to avoid it.
Army throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Cane jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Army bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Army let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Army keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cane.
Cane throws a sloppy body shot
and Army connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Army throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Cane's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Army's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cane connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Army scrambles back to his feet.
Cane throws a hook but Army blocks it.
Army follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Cane throws a body shot but no joy.
Cane ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Cane takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Cane slips under a jab.
Army moves away from the strike by Cane.
Army replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Cane blocks it well.
Cane moves out of range of the body kick.
Cane misses with an uppercut
and Army counters with a straight right hand.
Cane ducks under a wild hook from Army.
Army bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Army steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Cane misses the jab.
Army now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Cane wants to clinch
and Army counters with a body kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Army blocks a jab.
Cane looks to land a left hand but Army moved out of range nicely.

Army uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cane has time to react.
Cane throws a jab but it's blocked by Army.
Army throws the kick towards the body but Cane avoids it.

Cane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Army moves away.

and Army counters with a good, hard body kick but Cane shrugs it off.

Army throws a series of punches but Cane moves out of range.
Army ducks right into an uppercut from Cane.
Cane throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A shot to the body from Cane misses
and Army makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Army uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cane has time to react.
Army moves out of range of the strikes.
Cane throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Army on the side of the head.
Army fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cane manages to avoid it.
Cane attempts a counter takedown but Army avoids it well and moves away.
Cane swinging wildly here.
Cane will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Army swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Good exchange - Cane coming out on top.
Army keeps the fight on the outside.
Cane lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Army at a distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cane keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Army ducks right into an uppercut from Cane.
Army's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cane under the eye.
Cane stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Army takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A big left from Army misses.
Cane blocks a head kick by Army.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Dick Army.
I think Army has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
