Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Garth (ranked 3564 p4p, 0 weight class) and Botros Martinus (ranked 4206 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimmy Garth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Botros Martinus! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garth closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Garth lands in his opponent's guard. Martinus kicks Garth off and gets to his feet. Garth could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Martinus lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Garth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Martinus manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Martinus seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Garth trying to hold on to Martinus's head to control him but Martinus postures up.

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Garth tries to get out of the position. Garth works his way to full guard. Good work. Garth is pulling down on Martinus's head. It's preventing any offense from Martinus, at least for the moment. Martinus stops Garth from standing up. He's simply no match for Martinus on the ground. Garth wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Garth just misses with a elbow thrown towards Martinus's brow. Garth's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Garth slowing the pace effectively. Garth tries for a takedown. No joy.
Garth has picked Martinus up - he's going for a ride! Garth dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Martinus has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Garth is on him like a limpet, forcing Martinus back against the cage. Martinus looking for a takedown. Jimmy Garth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Botros Martinus. Martinus looks winded! Martinus is pressed up against the cage. He's pushed Martinus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Martinus gets caught napping as Garth dives in and scores a takedown. Martinus manages to retain guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Garth lands a couple of decent looking shots. Martinus keeping moving, preventing Garth from controlling successfully. Garth with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Garth makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garth trying to control but Martinus is working from the bottom. Garth is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martinus can do to turn this around?
