Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Torres (ranked 691 p4p, 104 weight class) and Smok Kiss (ranked 2051 p4p, 265 weight class). Torres's entrance music is Juaneco y su Combo - Mujer Hilandera. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Torres!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Smok Kiss!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiss misses with a straight right.
Torres changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Torres throws a hook to the side of Kiss's head but Kiss sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Torres displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kiss throws out the jab.
Torres misses with a hook
and Kiss connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Torres misses with a body shot.
Kiss let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiss throws a jab but it's blocked by Torres.
Kiss throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Torres is looking to counter punch.
Torres keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kiss.

Kiss takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Torres lands a jab.


It looks like Smok Kiss has been cut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Torres feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Torres wants to pass the guard but Kiss is keeping the position.
Torres is working hard here to advance position.

Kiss looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Torres pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kiss is keeping the position for now.
Kiss is adopting a defensive guard.
Torres content to stall in guard here.
Torres trying to control but Kiss is working from the bottom.
Kiss seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Torres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kiss swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kiss is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
I was talking to Torres's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Kiss lands a right hand that snaps the head of Torres backwards.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kiss.
Kiss misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kiss misses with some punches.
Kiss fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kiss blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Torres tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Torres is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kiss to keep the fight standing.
Torres swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Torres lands with a right to the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Torres.
Kiss lands a right hand.
Still in the clinch, Kiss scores with a nice short uppercut.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kiss.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Torres manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Kiss goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kiss lands a body shot.

Torres jumps guard.

Torres has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kiss can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kiss really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Torres. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kiss is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Torres looking for subs off his back but Kiss has passed one foot through into half guard.
Kiss content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Torres is looking for a sweep. Kiss is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Smok Kiss will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Smok Kiss's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Torres throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kiss sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Torres throws the left hand but Kiss avoids the punch easily.
Torres fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Torres misses the body punch
and Kiss counters with a straight right hand.

Torres manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kiss on his heels. He'll look to pass Kiss's guard now, I'm sure.

Kiss scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Kiss throws a jab but it's blocked by Torres.
Kiss misses with a left hand
and Torres counters with a nice uppercut.
Kiss rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Torres decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kiss's guard.
Kiss wants to get back to his feet but Torres is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kiss controlling Torres's posture.
Torres looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Torres trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Kiss manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Kiss looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Kiss engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Kiss tries to free his leg and advance position but Torres is retaining full guard.
Torres is trying to keep Kiss in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smok Kiss has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kiss is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Torres has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kiss is looking to defend but Torres has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kiss! Torres pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kiss taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gabriel Torres!
