PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Konstantinos Nevrakis (ranked 859 p4p, 125 weight class) and Coiote Magrin (ranked 1636 p4p, 225 weight class). Nevrakis comes into the arena with Winds of Ithaca blaring out of the sound system. Konstantinos Nevrakis could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Coiote Magrin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Konstantinos Nevrakis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Coiote Magrin!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nevrakis rushes Magrin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Nevrakis successfully pulls guard.
Magrin trying to control but Nevrakis is working from the bottom.

Nevrakis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Magrin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Magrin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Magrin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Magrin tries to free his leg and advance position but Nevrakis is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nevrakis working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Magrin has passed into half guard!
Nevrakis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nevrakis's coaches at Spartan Mixed Martial Arts have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Magrin wants to control but Nevrakis is keeping busy.

Magrin is hanging on to Nevrakis's back as he tries to escape.
Magrin doesn't have the hooks in and Nevrakis manages to turn into his guard.

Nevrakis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Magrin dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nevrakis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Magrin defends well.

Nevrakis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Magrin escapes and throws Nevrakis's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Nevrakis tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've been informed that Magrin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Coiote Magrin will probably get the nod.

Nevrakis closes the distance and pushes Magrin back into the cage.
Magrin is trying to pull guard but Nevrakis has him pressed against the cage.

Nevrakis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Coiote Magrin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nevrakis keeping moving, preventing Magrin from controlling successfully.
Magrin is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nevrakis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Magrin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Magrin wants to control from the top but Nevrakis keeps moving.

Magrin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nevrakis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Magrin has managed to get both his arms back between Nevrakis's legs - danger averted.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Magrin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Nevrakis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Magrin looking to improve position, pressing down on Nevrakis's thigh with his hand. Nevrakis seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Magrin paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Magrin's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Nevrakis picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Konstantinos Nevrakis decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
