Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony O Rangers (ranked 3484 p4p, 319 weight class) and John Dio (ranked 2027 p4p, 221 weight class). O Rangers's entrance music is Helicopter- Bloc Party. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony O Rangers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Dio! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Dio enables O Rangers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dio manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Dio is looking to stand up but O Rangers isn't so interested in that idea. Dio is trying to keep O Rangers in close.
Dio might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control O Rangers haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Dio controlling O Rangers's posture. Dio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dio keeping moving, preventing O Rangers from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. O Rangers stopping the sweep attempt from Dio. O Rangers trying to control but Dio is working from the bottom. Dio trying to keep a closed guard but O Rangers is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round. O Rangers tries to free his leg and advance position but Dio is retaining full guard. O Rangers slips nicely into half guard. Dio gets back to full guard.
Dio can't keep his opponent in guard - O Rangers advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Dio won't allow O Rangers to pass to mount. Dio is positioning himself well to prevent O Rangers advancing to mount. O Rangers works his way into full mount! O Rangers seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Dio is holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Dio regains half guard. O Rangers content to control rather than advance. Dio trying to hold on to O Rangers's head to control him but O Rangers postures up.
O Rangers is working for a kimura but Dio is defending it quite comfortably.

O Rangers is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
O Rangers tries to pass to full mount but Dio defends it. Dio has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dio slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dio controls O Rangers momentarily but O Rangers frees himself. O Rangers stands and throws Dio's legs to the side, diving into side control. Dio tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but O Rangers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. O Rangers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dio, who protects the arm well. Dio is not content to let O Rangers control the position. Dio prevents O Rangers from moving into mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dio holds on to O Rangers's head and controls the position momentarily. Dio is looking to reverse the position. Dio is not content to let O Rangers control the position. O Rangers tries for a kimura but Dio is defending well. O Rangers wants to control but Dio is keeping him busy. O Rangers working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! O Rangers trying to control the action but Dio is working from the bottom. O Rangers in the domination position with Dio hanging on. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No joy there for O Rangers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dio let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. O Rangers throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Dio scores with a punch to the head. O Rangers bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. O Rangers throws a head kick that misses. Dio avoids a punch combination nicely.

Dio lands with a shot to the body. Dio works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. O Rangers shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. O Rangers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dio sprawls well. Dio wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. O Rangers gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dio gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dio pulls guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dio has his hands on O Rangers's head, controlling the position. Dio is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dio lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Dio works over O Rangers with some ground and pound from guard. Dio missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. O Rangers is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Dio has his hands clasped together but O Rangers extends and breaks Dio's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by O Rangers.
