PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Nazare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nazare has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesus Nazare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Jones!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a nice looking combination but Nazare bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nazare looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Nazare sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jesus Nazare has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Jones.
Nazare misses with a takedown

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Jones lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nazare avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jones.
Nazare on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nazare's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nice strikes from Jones there.

Jones is working for a kimura but Nazare is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones prevents Nazare from improving his position.
Nazare is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Nazare tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.
Nazare keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
It looks like Jones is going to stand back up.

Nazare is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones wants to pass to mount but Nazare is defending the position.
Nazare tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A right-left combo lands from Jones.


It looks like Jesus Nazare has been cut.
Jones throws a series of punches but Nazare moves out of range.

Nazare clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.
Jones throws a head punch that misses.
Nazare blocking some punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nazare gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jones.

Nazare wants the takedown. Jones is fighting it off but Nazare persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jones's guard against the cage.
Jones striking off his back but it's not causing Nazare any problems.

Jones working for a triangle but Nazare defends it easily.
Nazare has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jones throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Nazare landing some decent shots from guard.
Nazare has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Nazare is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nazare won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Nazare trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Nazare counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones missing with punches from the bottom.
Jones flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jesus Nazare's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nazare will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jones lands with a big right hook that stumbles Nazare - he's out on his feet here! Jones follows up with another monster hook that separates Nazare from consciousness! Nazare falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Jones stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jim Jones!
