Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Frederick (ranked 24232 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Hunter (ranked 24583 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roger Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frederick takes the fight into the clinch.

Frederick lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Hunter manages to escape and get back to his feet!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hunter wants to stall.
Hunter tries for a takedown but Frederick manages to get underhooks.
Hunter slowing the pace effectively.
Frederick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Frederick is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Frederick manages to break the clinch.

Hunter gets a clinch.

Hunter trying to control the position but instead, Frederick has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hunter into the cage.
Hunter wants to get back to striking at distance but Frederick won't allow it.
Hunter tries to pull guard but Frederick forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Frederick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Frederick shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hunter's guard.

Frederick stands up and waves to Hunter to follow him.
Frederick stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Frederick wants it to stay on the feet.

Frederick closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hunter to the mat! Hunter manages to get full guard.
Hunter looking to control.
Frederick with a flurry of punches that miss.
Frederick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Frederick stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Frederick has managed to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hunter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Frederick walks away with a smile on his face. Hunter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Frederick clinches up against the cage.
Hunter's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Frederick jumps into guard, dragging Hunter to the mat.
Hunter is looking to stand up but Frederick won't let him.
Frederick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunter is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Frederick trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Frederick is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Frederick thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hunter won't allow Frederick to sweep him here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches.

Frederick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hunter tries for a takedown but Frederick sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Frederick dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Frederick changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hunter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Frederick stands up and beckons Hunter to his feet.
Hunter shoots and misses
and Frederick counters with a one-two to the body.
Frederick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hunter can do to turn this around?
Hunter fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunter has Frederick up against the cage in a clinch.

Frederick breaks from the clinch.

Frederick scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hunter is not content to let Frederick control the position.
You can see the frustration on Hunter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Frederick tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Frederick has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Frederick is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hunter knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hunter tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Hunter is wriggling around trying to escape.

Frederick stands up from mount. Strange move.

Frederick has taken the fight to the clinch.

Frederick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hunter wants to clinch.

Hunter gets tackled into the cage by Frederick. Frederick maintains the clinch.
Hunter wants to take the fight to the mat but Frederick manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Hunter jumps guard but Frederick stands there with Hunter around his waist. Hunter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hunter is breathing heavily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Frederick lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hunter backwards.
Hunter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Frederick is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Roger Frederick has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Frederick stops a takedown attempt from Hunter.
Hunter is trying to break free.
Hunter tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frederick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.

Hunter throws a sloppy head kick and Frederick moves out of range easily.

Hunter moves into range and clinches up with Frederick.

Frederick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hunter fails with a takedown attempt.

Frederick scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frederick seems to be looking for submissions.

Frederick is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hunter sees it coming and defends easily.

Frederick is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hunter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Frederick.
Hunter wants to get back to full guard.
Frederick wants to control but Hunter is keeping him busy.

Frederick is working for an americana but Hunter has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Frederick was thinking about the submission.
Hunter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hunter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Frederick tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.

Frederick stands and steps away. Hunter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hunter shoots in but no luck this time.
Hunter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Frederick swivels and escapes.
As Hunter looks to move away, Frederick throws a big counter combo but Hunter just gets out of the way.
Roger Frederick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Hunter.
Frederick throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hunter forces Frederick back against the cage and clinches.
Hunter is trying to pull guard but Frederick has him pressed against the cage.

Frederick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Frederick decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Frederick decides to return to a standing position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hunter enables Frederick to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hunter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Frederick connects with a couple of short punches.

Frederick drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Frederick jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Frederick won't allow Hunter to sweep him here.

Hunter is trying to escape back to his feet but Frederick uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Jake Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Frederick has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
