Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Lahey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lahey is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Liquor & Whores. The key to victory for Paul Bruens has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Lahey!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruens tries to bum rush Lahey with a series of wild strikes but Lahey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bruens misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bruens avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Lahey digs a good body shot into Bruens's ribs.
Bruens avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lahey throws an overhand right that lands on Bruens's shoulder, as Bruens tries to avoid the shot.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bruens goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Paul Bruens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lahey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bruens paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bruens wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Bruens will probably get the nod.

Lahey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bruens. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lahey is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Bruens sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lahey's guard.

Bruens is looking to stall here but Lahey recovers full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bruens is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lahey is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bruens tries to free his leg and advance position but Lahey is retaining full guard.
