CACC 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Deez Nuts (ranked 1468 p4p, 203 weight class) and Russell Paulman (ranked 1976 p4p, 256 weight class). Nuts's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Come Down. Paulman has chosen War is my Love as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Deez Nuts! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 16 wins and 8 losses; Russell Paulman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Paulman is defended easily by Nuts.
Nuts changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Paulman has a takedown stuffed.
Paulman shoots in looking for a takedown. Nuts tries to sprawl out of it but Paulman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Nuts manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Deez Nuts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Russell Paulman.
Paulman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nuts sprawls well. Nuts wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Paulman gets slowly back to his feet.
Nuts definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paulman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nuts sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Paulman somewhat.
Nuts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Paulman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nuts as he jumps to the side.
Paulman shoots in and drives through. Nuts sprawls well.

Paulman shoots in looking for a takedown but Nuts manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Paulman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Paulman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Paulman closes the distance and clinches up with Nuts, looking for a takedown. Paulman pushes Nuts against the ropes but Nuts circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nuts attempts a counter takedown but Paulman avoids it well and moves away.

Nuts goes for a takedown in the clinch but Paulman prevents it.

Nuts turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nuts manages to end up in side control.

Nuts tries to advance to mount but Paulman denies him.

Nuts wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Paulman, who protects the arm well.
Nuts tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Paulman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Nuts is trying to get an arm triangle but Paulman is defending well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Nuts is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Paulman has escaped the position, nice work there.

Nuts is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paulman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Nuts wants to control but Paulman is keeping him busy.

Nuts is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Paulman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Nuts takes a little break here. Paulman wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Nuts trying to control the position but Paulman is working away.
Paulman is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Nuts is keen to just control but Paulman is a slippery customer.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nuts is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Paulman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nuts.

Nuts is looking to take a break and control but Paulman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nuts wants to control from the top but Paulman keeps moving.

Nuts is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Nuts passes Paulman's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Paulman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Paulman.

Nuts thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Nuts tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nuts has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nuts can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Paulman is looking to escape.

Paulman is squirming around, avoiding Nuts's attempts to control the action.
Paulman tries to hold on but Nuts postures up.

Nuts wants to finish this one by submission but Paulman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Nuts.

Nuts is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Paulman is surviving well by controlling Nuts's body position as best he can.

Nuts looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Paulman bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Nuts is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Paulman is aware though and is defending well.
Nuts keeping moving, preventing Paulman from controlling successfully.
Paulman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Nuts is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Paulman wants to pass the guard but Nuts is keeping the position.

Nuts working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paulman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Paulman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nuts had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Paulman defends it easily.

Nuts looking for a triangle here. Paulman is fighting it but it looks tight! Nuts pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Paulman is tapping out - this one is all over!
