Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamey Valentine (ranked 7187 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desmond Udiggah (ranked 4689 p4p, 383 weight class). Desmond Udiggah has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jamey Valentine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Desmond Udiggah!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Udiggah throws a sloppy head kick

and Valentine counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Udiggah has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Valentine is on him like a limpet, forcing Udiggah back against the cage.

Udiggah is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Valentine can't fight it off and eventually Udiggah manages to take the fight to the floor. Valentine looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Udiggah in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Valentine pulls Udiggah in to control the position.

Udiggah stands and steps away. Valentine gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Valentine gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valentine keeping moving, preventing Udiggah from controlling successfully.
Udiggah is pushing down on Valentine's leg trying to pass to half guard. Valentine is fighting to maintain full guard but Udiggah has managed to sneak the leg through.

Valentine tries to kick Udiggah off but Udiggah keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Udiggah is looking for a kimura here.

Udiggah is looking for a kimura but Valentine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Udiggah to get the leverage.
Well, if Udiggah is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Udiggah working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Valentine's thigh. Valentine counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Valentine is looking to stand up but Udiggah isn't so interested in that idea.
Udiggah's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Udiggah clinches.

Udiggah gets control of Valentine's arms and successfully pulls guard. Udiggah will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Udiggah trying to keep a closed guard but Valentine is proving a slippery customer.
Valentine wants to control from the top but Udiggah keeps moving.
Valentine engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Valentine lands a couple of digs.
Udiggah tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Udiggah preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Valentine would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Valentine trying to control the position from guard on top but Udiggah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Desmond Udiggah dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Valentine wants to clinch.
Udiggah checks the leg kick nicely there.
Valentine has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Udiggah finds it's way round the side to connect with Valentine's head.


It looks like Jamey Valentine has been cut.

Udiggah feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Valentine manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Udiggah. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Udiggah lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Udiggah avoids a wild elbow strike from Valentine.
Udiggah has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Udiggah breaks from the clinch.
Udiggah moves in looking to clinch but Valentine pushes him off.
Valentine changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Valentine fails with an attempt to clinch.

Valentine gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Udiggah to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Valentine is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Valentine is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Udiggah dives into side control.

Udiggah tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Udiggah has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Valentine manages to work his way to half guard, despite Udiggah's best efforts.
Udiggah is looking to stall here but Valentine recovers full guard.

Udiggah gets to his feet - Valentine follows without any prompting.
Udiggah throws a sloppy head kick and Valentine moves out of range easily.
Udiggah lands with a nice body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Udiggah shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Udiggah is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Valentine sees it coming and defends easily.
Udiggah slows the pace down in half guard.
Udiggah throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Udiggah sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Udiggah passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Valentine!
Udiggah throwing strikes here but Valentine is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Udiggah tries to control but Valentine wriggling away.
Udiggah throws some wild stikes that Valentine manages to avoid easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Desmond Udiggah showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Valentine's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Udiggah decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valentine is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Valentine is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Valentine works over Udiggah with some ground and pound from guard.

Udiggah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Valentine trying to control but Udiggah is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Valentine content to stall in guard here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Udiggah scores with a kick to the body.

Udiggah feints and as Valentine raises his hands in defense, Udiggah changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Valentine wants to get back to his feet but Udiggah is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Valentine can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Udiggah controls the pace.

Valentine is controlling Udiggah's posture.

Udiggah stands up from Valentine's guard - Udiggah perhaps looking for a knockout.
A swing and a miss from Valentine.
Udiggah throws a front kick that sends Valentine stumbling back into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Valentine tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Udiggah pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Udiggah darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Valentine tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Udiggah manages to move to mount!
Udiggah thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Udiggah thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Udiggah controlling from the full mount.

Udiggah looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Udiggah unloads with some shots from mount but Valentine bucks and avoids them well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Desmond Udiggah comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Udiggah has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
